I just realized that Teddy Boyce's niece,Pamela Boyce was one who perished on that day.

Ronald Singh and his sister died that day, the only children of their parents.

Just a thought, why specifically 72, does this number represent some signifiance to Islam, is this directly from the Koran.

No such from the Qur'an. There is a ahadith (reported sayings of Muhammad) that record this but in my opinion, the ahadith is doubtful.
