Singer Shaan poses with his award for best male playback singer, for song Jabse Tere Naina from the film Saawariya, during the 9th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards.
This long haired sensation made his appearance in the song 'Q - Funk' from the album 'Oorja' He burst into the pop scene with sis Sagarika, powered by pop-guru Biddu's melodies and doing re-mixes. Shaan, the 'oh cho chweet' pop-star, has been wooing the audiences since he stepped into Indian Music industry.
Singer Shaan comes from a musical family. His late father, Manas Mukherjee, was a music director while his sister Sagarika is a popular singer. Shaan is decidedly a singer who appeals to youth and his songs are geared towards younger audiences. It seems like he has been around forever but of course, he only made his debut in 1999 with ˜Musumusu hasi' in Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi in 1999. He hit the spot with ˜Nikamma kiya iss dil ne' from Kya Dil Ne Kahaa and after that there has been no looking back for Shantanu Mukherjee aka Shaan.
Shaan received the best singer of the year at the filmfare awards 2007 for the song "Chand sifarish" from Fanaa and best male playback singer, for song Jabse Tere Naina from the film Saawariya, during the 9th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) 2008.
