Some time back, I mentioned that our daughter had begun university. Last night brought her to the end of her first journey. She graduated with honors with a double major. She earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies as well as a Bachelors of Science degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She also gradated from the prestigious Honors College of her school. Her next goal is to earn a Pharmacy degree. To that effect, she took her PCAT about a month ago and scored a 94 composite score in her first and only sitting.

You've earned bragging rights brother. Congratulations to your daughter on her first of many accomplishments and congratulations to both you and your wife for the job you did raising her.
Congrats to Ksazma and daughter. Well done.
Thank you all for your kind words.
Congrats to young Ms Kaz.
We are very fortunate in that we paid virtually nothing for our daughter to get these two degrees since she was on a full scholarship from FIU. State of Florida has a program called Bright Futures where a high school students gets paid per college credit taken. Because of her high school grades, she was able to bank over $12k on this alone. I had bought a college tuition plan for her when she was little for about $8k. I can now cash that in for over $9k which goes to her. She ended up making more than $20k on her college.
Not to be completely ignored, we also received a letter from our son's school inviting him to spend his junior and senior HS years attending our county's community college. This is designed to allow him to earn an AA degree and his HS diploma in 2021. He currently has a 5.2 GPA and is number 2 at his school's class of 2021. This is a good program not only because it is completely free but more importantly, it presents the opportunity for one to earn their Bachelors degree by the time they are 20. My cousin's daugher who utilized this was able to graduate before her 21st birthday and earn her Physicians Assistant degree before her 23rd birthday. My daughter was also invited but she didn't want to do it as she wanted to completely experience her high school. She can still earn a somewhat doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) in 3 to 4 years which will still be a good position to be in.
All praises are due to Allah, the Provider and Cherisher of the worlds.
Congrats Ksaz!
Ksaz I am glad the kids take after their momð Just kidding.
Kids are under so much pressure these days with competition for scores. My little one scored in the 94th percentile on the PSAT, she just turned 16. She said â mom just save ur money, now you will see all the colleges come looking for me. Merit scholarships are hard to come by so lucky you Ksaz.

Lena, given that I am a canecutter, the kids must take after their mom when it comes to their education.
When our daughter came out of the her PCAT class, she texted us that she got a 94 composite score. Because I am accustomed to them getting good grades, my initial thought was that was not good but I didn't share that reaction with her. When I learnt of how others did, I realized that she did pretty good. The top PCAT performers score between 95 and 99 so her 94 is a blessing. I was also cautioned by others that when students take their MCAT or PCAT, they sometimes leave a corridor of tears behind them. I guess that it is the same with kids taking other college aptitude tests also.
That 94th percentile on the PSAT is really good. Congrats to your daughter. She will go a very far way. Our son is now 15 and he scored in the 99th percentile on the PSAT this year as well as last year. His passion for reading has really served him well in broadening his knowledge. He does have a good chance of getting into the College Academy next year so this could be his last year in high school. He is already taking college classes from Broward College.
Thanks again for your kind words.

Thanks VB. How are the grands doing?
Checking with the boy, he said that he scored 1470 on his PSAT this year.
This has been a good week for our mom as she was able to watch her granddaughter graduate on Monday, one of her grandsons graduate yesterday and another of her grandsons graduate today. Anything that brings our mom joy is a big deal for us. May Allah continue to bless her.
Great news, Ksaz. We know all the thanks go to wifey (I know this because I get all the praise for doing a fine job with our son.).
Nice to see you gradually moved from Religious Forum to Social. Some of us asked about you on Political. We figured you got in trouble with Donald about Melania. Cheers.

Leonora, my wifey getting all the praises f most of it is always fine with me. At our Christmas party last Friday, one of my co-worker told my wife that "it was nice to see my better 50% again". I corrected her that my wife was more like my better 90%.
Actually, I didn't move from Religious. I had enough of Political and took break from posting on GNI. I don't know why I chose to repost by starting this thread. Maybe I felt that I left this segment unfinished when I started it many years ago or maybe I was just overtaken by the pride of my daughter's performance that I was not able to restrain myself.
I never have to worry about getting into trouble with my wife over any other woman. We wukkin on number 31 next month so none ah abee nah going nowhere. Melania looks raggedy now so I have moved on to a new imaginary squeeze. Our own local newscaster.
Take care

The joy and happy rewards you and your family are experiencing mere words can't explain. I have two kids and they have done the same for us. Today my son is a doctor and my daughter is a senior partner at a law firm in Michigan. You have just started in reaping the rewards of good parenting ,many exciting years ahead, let them know your friends at GNI are equally proud of their success.

Thanks kp. For me, there is nothing like family. Better yet when they go well. Becoming a doctor is no walk in the park. They must make you proud.

Thanks Kef. That 94 composite is one off the score of top performers. She has been getting lots of invites from Pharmacy schools but she hasn't really zeroed in on any as she wants to wait until after the holidays.

Thanks Chief. As I was writing about her, I remembered when you first mentioned that your son had become a lawyer. Some people dream of touring the world. I am satisfied with just seeing my two children get their piece of the world's pie as well as they are happy. My daughter has never had a job but she wants to now but only if it is working in a pharmacy since she believes doing so will help her when she begins pharmacy school. We do have some connections to get her into a pharmacy. What she doesn't have as yet is a resume to take to one of those connections and she wouldn't go because she is a stickler for process.
Congrats to your daughter. I suggest that she explore options in bio -technology that is where the action and money is. This can be anything from building robots to assist surgeons to developing micro drones, medicine patches etc.

Thanks Sunil. I agree with you. Trouble is she has wanted to be a Pharmacist even before she was 10 and haven't moved away from that at all. I took a while for me to really appreciate how well that 94 percentile rate score is. But as more of her peers' scores become available I realized that she did really well. She is still young and will have time to explore other areas.
