Serious thread with some funny responses!

Cain is the winner and Chief in his yellow dhoti is the runner up.

All kidding aside, I don't like thinking of death, even though it is the only certainty in my life. Those who are near and dear to me know that I don't want any flowers when I die. If you can't give them to me when I am alive, when I can enjoy the beauty and the fragrance, what's the use when I am dead?

If the flowers are for my loved ones, then send flowers to the house!

LOL about avatar, I just commented about it on the other thread

Talking about flowers, let's consider fragrance.

In the 1960s and 1970s I attended some funerals that had one thing in common; a certain type of Avon cologne was lavished on the deceased in the coffin. So, I used to call that Avon fragrance "dead man perfume." I don't know if Avon still makes it and if it is still used on the dead.

i second that!!!

and i also agree with it being sent to the families home where they can enjoy it...not at the funeral home

People are sending those pretty bowls/dishes of plant nowadays.

Gilly, I didn't know it was from Avon!! Anyway, any perfume that doesn't smell good to me is called "dead man perfume"

I think people use atar too.

Hopefully you live to be at least a hundred.

no no my dear, that would not suit me

i do not wish for such long life ...just a few more healthy years will do me fine (i pray that my parents go b4 me ...and then i am fine to go)

You is one brave woman. I cannot bring myself to pray that anyone or myself go. But if I may indulge, I would prefer to go before my wife because I don't think I can get by without her.

See...the value of that mail order thingy!

The scent is Geranium based. I cannot pass those flowers when they are in bloom without the pall of a funeral house coming to mind.

Our Masjid purchased a huge section of one of the local cemeteries.

since we belong to a small community of Muslims, I am guaranteed a plot in this section so I don't see a need to pre-purchase one (as long as I don't die in some far off land

also, our Masjid has a very competent funeral service committee who immediately take charge with all arrangements when someone passes away.  this helps greatly to ease the responsibility of family members.

Salaams and extend my salaams to your executives.

Any Masjid I visit one of my duas is for the founders and executives of the Mosque.
