Any decent minority Gov't would have called elections within a year in the interest of the country and good governance.

What have this Govenrment achieved in terms of passing bills in the National Assemebly? They are a minority Government, don't forget that.

The Country is heading in the right direction and functioning, why the hell the Govt will call early Election???

Mr Glen Lall is a businessman  and stood up to the Jagdeo and the PPP who gave away GPC to thioer friend Bobby Ramroop.

Because too many bills are stalled or cannot pass because they are a monrity.

Glen Lall Newspaper writes against the Govt and expose weaknesses and mismanagement, which are great to save Taxpayers money. Glen Lall is the man with the money not necessarily the man with the brains.

So the only people with brains are the ones that steal from the people, Jagdeo and Ramroop.

Ask Jagdeo how a piece  of land on the West Coast that that is worth $40 million was sold to his friend Ed for $9 million.

Ask Jagdeo why he moved the Government transmitters from Sparendam and then used the prime time waterfront property to build a house on.

Yes they did in 2011 and the majority rejected the PPP.  But for the fact that post election alliances are barred in the Guyana the PPP would NOT be in power.

In the UK the party in power won less than 50% of the votes so lacks a majority in parliament.  It formed a post election alliance and as a result things get accomplished.

Not so in Guyana.

So if you are so confident that the PPP will always win suggest that the constitution be amended to allow post election alliances.

After all I am sure that you think that the 2011 election was an aberration.

My mamoo know Mr Glen Lall like buddy. Mr Lall is a personal family friend to Mr Ramotar. Mr Lall can't turn KN into PPP paper because no one will buy it. He have Peeping Toms to write. Mr Jagdeo hate Mr Lall. Bobby hate Mr Lall. 

Mr Jagdeo spend 100 mill Guyana dollars taxpayer money to move the transmitter. Mr Jagdeo then spend 5 mill USD make and furnish house. Mr Ed Ahmad gave him a few mills in goods. The contractor did work for free.

It is important for the PPP to participate and encourage the private enterprise. Life is not always about your own friends and supporters.

Word of advice for the PPP:

Become more transparent and encourage the private sector regardless of political stripe. Guyana does need change and the PPP need to recognize this urgently otherwise they will be swept away by a tide of change that is happening all over the world today.

There should no no further delay with the Local Elections. The PPP will win but they must not appear to be afraid of holding Local Elections.

This is the plain truth. The People’s Progressive Party is afraid of elections. Indeed, it is afraid of what any referendum on its rule – quantifiable or abstract – is going to reveal, and the subsequent consequences thereof.  On a symbolic level, the inevitable loss it is facing at local government elections would further undermine the mythos of electoral invincibility within which the PPP has shrouded itself, one which has already suffered a tremendous blow with the results of the 2011 general elections. In praxis, the inevitable local government electoral loss would undermine the machinery that the party has put in place to usurp legitimate local government infrastructure to consolidate and extend its hegemony, particularly during general elections campaigning. Faced with the possibility of electoral defeat, the structures are slowly being laid down for the creation of a pre-totalitarian state.  The classic signs are there: proliferating acts of brutality by the police and the condoning or obfuscation of the same by the government; the increasing impunity with which government and ruling party apparatchiks flaunt the legal system; the attempts to muzzle the free media even as the state media is abused in the interest of the ruling party; the undermining of democratic structures and the subsequent imposition of autocratic ones; and the resistance of democratic mechanisms like local government elections.

Donald Ramotar has been in a blessed spirit all weekend.

Yesterday I was surprised to receive an email from him, enquiring about my health.

I gave him an update with thanks.

This morning he sent me another email, wishing me well.

No politics. Just a decent human exchange between two former comrades-in-arms.

What is foolish that he wrote?
