I remember first seeing this movie I think was at Woodside Square.

Rana Mahendra Pratap Garewal (Mukesh Khanna) and his brother Vishwa (Dalip Tahil) are wealthy businessmen. Rana and Vishwa decides to get their pampered younger sister Madhu (Madhuri Dixit) married, to their rich friend Brijnath's younger brother Raja (Sanjay Kapoor).

But Brijnath's luck unfavours him when a massive fire broke out in his factory taking away all his wealth. Brijnath and his brother unfortunately had to leave all their luxuries and end up living on daily earned bread.

Looking at this poor living conditions Rana and Vishwa break the marriage off. Shocked and saddened at the rejection by his best friend, Birju gets a mental shock. Raja then decides to stay in the city outskirts with his brother taking care of him by doing petty jobs. After few years Madhu accidently meets Raja and falls in love with him. Both Madhu and Raja are unaware of the past. Find out what turns out in their fate.
