An undercover investigation has revealed a shocking trade in illegal 'bush meat' at a London market - including the sale of dead rats for human consumption.

Charred sheep skins, another favourite in west Africa known as 'smokies', are also being sold by butchers at the Ridley Road market in Dalson, east London.

A BBC investigation using hidden cameras uncovered at least six butchers selling the illegal meats, breaking UK food safety laws.

I have seen Africans buying whole goats at a live market. It's a place where they butcher the animal and prepare it as you requested. I have seen whole roasted goats(with the skin on). Not sure how they can eat the roasted skin. The smell is repulsive.

London restaurants are not known either for their hygiene or culinary delights. Any place that giving you curry sauce instead of ketchup and charging you for it to boot is not to my liking. In London I eat hotel breakfast, skip lunch and find some family to provide dinner. Chinese restaurants are the worst. I don't think think the UK has health inspectors. I used to think that the British bad teeth came from lack of dentists, but I realize it is from the food.
