Former President Barath Jagdeo was in New York a while back and made this comment:
quote:"I was blessed and, indeed, extremely fortunate to be entrusted with the Presidency of Guyana when I was just in my thirties. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of being the leader of Guyana and I am most proud of the progress Guyana made during my tenure as President.
But life goes on. I am no longer President. I am still a young man, and right now I am seeking a new challenge in my life.
To be quite honest I have experienced feelings of emptiness and loneliness since leaving office. I have a few friends who I get along with, but I really miss the challenges that came with my previous position.
I have been offered quite a few positions since my Presidency ended, but nothing has interested or excited me.
I spend a lot of time in my library. Just the other day I was reading some articles on the later Mother Teresa and a comment she made caught my attention. She said, "the most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved."
Mother Teresa has a point. I really need a new challenge. Maybe I'll write my autobiography." Former President Barath Jagdeo
Maybe President Jagdeo should see a shrink next time he visits NY---it may help him overcome his loneliness.
What do you folks think ?
