Regardless of how you feel of their politics, they shook up and change the political landscape.  The next election will be the test if they will remain relevant.  Baseman withholding judgement.

* In all of Guyana's history there has always been 10-12% of the population that was willing to vote against the 2 major parties, the PPP and PNC.

* In 1964 the UF received 12.3% of the votes---most ever by a 3rd party in Guyana.

* The AFC tapped into that 10-12% anti PPP/PNC vote and gained 8% of the votes in 2006 and 10% in 2011.

* BUT THE AFC HAS NOW BEEN EXPOSED.

* The Guyanese people no longer view them as an independent party---in fact they are now perceived to be an extension of the PNC.

BOTTOM LINE:

* THE AFC HAS SOWED DISHARMONY IN GUYANA. THIS HAS PEEVED THE GUYANESE PUBLIC.

* In the next election, the AFC will likely be obliterated.

The difference to the UF, UF was also race-based, Putagee, party.  AFC pulls from the main PPP/PNC constituencies.  But, as I said, we have to see next election.  After last election and the exposure of Afro racism, I don't hold much hope for the AFC, but they are causing waves.

Latest rumor, AFC/PNC joint ticket with Nagamootoo captain.  However, Indian may view this as another con-game at getting the PNC/Afro power structure in control.

* If you folks recall---the AFC won Region 8 in 2011 with 995 votes. The PPP received 741 votes and the PNC 738.

* The PPP is making every effort to win Region 8 in the next election. Had they won region 8 in 2011 they would not have been in the minority.

They are despised by the people from Kato to PK and Mahdia the people generally do not want to hear about the PPP. They are well aware that the PPP are scoundrels and all the Toashaos are very careful in couching their statements so as not to offend the PPP but they know their people do not want the PPP.

This is why the PPP lost region 8 in 2011 its gonna be worse in the next election instead of doing right by the people the PPP continues to play partisan and petty politics but the people have wizened up and they despise the PPP in these areas.
