Where was this Obama a couple of weeks ago? That's the question on everyone's mind, but that is Obama. His greatest moments are when he put his back against the wall.

His 47% comment was exquisite timing.

His Commander-in-Chief moxie was telling.

He called out Romney on his $8 trillion spending (tax cuts and military spending) in addition to the existing deficits.

Romney looked defensive all night and he was on his heels. His faux pas on what Obama said on the night of the Benghazi attack showed how stumbling he was on foreign affairs. Look at the transcript on the night where Obama talked about an act of terror.

Obama hit a home run tonight.

Debunking Romney..........

He claimed in the debate that the Obama Administration failed to say that the Benghazi attack was an act of terror. This is what Obama said that Sunday night - “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for,”

Romney misled the nation about this commen - “We of course don’t want to have automatic weapons, and that’s already illegal in this country to have automatic weapons.”. 8 years ago the Bill Clinton assault weapons ban expired and the Bush Administration never renewed it or made it permanent.

On the auto bailout, Romney said this -“One thing that the president said which I want to make sure we understand. He said that I said that we should take Detroit bankrupt. And that’s right. My plan was to have the company go through bankruptcy like 7-11 did and Macy’s and Continental Airlines and come out stronger.”

Romney said this in the New York Times op-ed in 2008 - titled, “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” – a headline that was written by The New York Times, the Romney camp has said — argued that the companies would fail if the government bailed them out. Romney was blunt in his introduction: “If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for on Tuesday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye. It won’t go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed.”

Romney said this on gas prices - “The proof of whether a [energy] strategy is working or not is what the price is that you’re paying at the pump. If you’re paying less than you paid a year or two ago, why, then, the strategy is working. But you’re paying more.”

Politico had this to say about that - criticizing the president for policies that have pushed up gas prices may pack a political punch. But it’s the international markets that have the most effect.

Yes, there are some things a president can do around the edges on gas prices, including suspending federal gas taxes, loosening EPA rules that require cleaner fuel blends because of air pollution or tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

But the difference wouldn’t be all that much on day-to-day fuel prices. Even President George W. Bush, a former Texas oilman, bemoaned how he didn’t have a “magic wand” to deal with U.S. record $4 gas prices during the final months of his second term.

Excerpts from a New York Times blog tonight.

LARGO, Fla. – If undecided voters are often also “low information voters,” then the independents here Tuesday night would certainly fall into the category of high information voters. Three are retirees who spend a lot of their time reading news. And Mr. Nystrom, the waiter, is a close follower of economic data across the states because he is hoping to leave Florida for a better job. He has a college degree in technology, and he has not been able to use it around Largo.

As such, these viewers have as many answers as the candidates, and they suggested that the answers the candidates provided actually open a host of new questions that, for now, will go unanswered. They did not watch this debate passively. They were active participants.

On the issue of trade with China, for instance, Mr. Bach, Ms. Siegrist, Mr. Nystrom and Mr. Fechko had so much to say, they drowned out the television for a moment.

“China is neverâ€Ķ

“Romney doesn’tâ€Ķ.

“Guys, guys!”

“Quiet.”

Then came the concluding statements.

“The last question was the best part of the debate for the president,” Mr. Bach said. “He came out strong. He turned the debate of two weeks ago totally around. There was no comparison. He brought out his passion and his experience and his concern. Romney played defense a lot of the night.”

Romney was faulted for reversing himself too much.

“I’ve watched 20 of the 22 Republican debates and I don’t like that Romney has positions now that he did not have previously,” Mr. Fechko said, listing issues such as abortion, immigration and taxes.

But Mr. Obama was also faulted for his “wishy washy” position on gun control and because his statement on the attack in Libya seemed weak.

The group did not like the terms winner and loser, but the consensus seems to be this:

“If people are using the debates only as their guide as to how they will vote, then Obama certainly helped himself tonight,” Mr. Fechko said.

IF YOU ARE A DARKIE--BLACK, MUSLIM, GUYANESE--80% OF WHOM WILL VOTE FOR OBAMA--OBAMA'S AGGRESSIVE AND CONFRONTATIONAL STYLE WOULD HAVE ELATED YOU--BUT UNDECIDED VOTERS WHO WILL DECIDE THE ELECTION WERE IMPRESSED WITH ROMNEY AND CALLED OBAMA A LIAR!

Check out this video--undecided voter calling Obama a liar and a bull$hitter:

“He’s lied about everything. He lied to get elected in 2008 that’s why I voted for him. I bought it. Bull. And, he’s lied about everything. He hasn’t come through on anything. And he’s been bullsh*tting the public.“

ROMNEY MISSED SOME OPPORTUNITIES LAST NIGHT--BUT ONE PLACE HE DID SHINE WAS IN LISTING THE PARTICULARS OF HOW THE OBAMA PRESIDENCY HAS BEEN A FAILURE

Here is Romney's reply to the black gentleman who said he voted for Obama in 2008 but was undecided now...

===========================

MITT ROMNEY:---ADDRESSING BLACK UNDECIDED VOTER:

T]hese last four years haven't been so good as the president just described and that you don't feel like your confident that the next four years are going to be much better either.

I can tell you that if you were to elect President Obama, you know what you're going to get. You're going to get a repeat of the last four years. We just can't afford four more years like the last four years.

He said that by now we'd have unemployment at 5.4 percent. The difference between where it is and 5.4 percent is 9 million Americans without work.

I wasn't the one that said 5.4 percent. This was the president's plan. Didn't get there.

He said he would have by now put forward a plan to reform Medicare and Social Security, because he pointed out they're on the road to bankruptcy. He would reform them. He'd get that done. He hasn't even made a proposal on either one.

He said in his first year he'd put out an immigration plan that would deal with our immigration challenges. Didn't even file it.

This is a president who has not been able to do what he said he'd do. He said that he'd cut in half the deficit. He hasn't done that either. In fact, he doubled it. He said that by now middle-income families would have a reduction in their health insurance premiums by $2,500 a year. It's gone up by $2,500 a year. And if Obamacare is passed, or implemented - it's already been passed - if it's implemented fully, it'll be another $2,500 on top.

The middle class is getting crushed under the policies of a president who has not understood what it takes to get the economy working again. He keeps saying, "Look, I've created 5 million jobs." That's after losing 5 million jobs. The entire record is such that the unemployment has not been reduced in this country. The unemployment, the number of people who are still looking for work, is still 23 million Americans.

There are more people in poverty, one out of six people in poverty.

How about food stamps? When he took office, 32 million people were on food stamps. Today, 47 million people are on food stamps. How about the growth of the economy? It's growing more slowly this year than last year, and more slowly last year than the year before.

The president wants to do well. I understand. But the policies he's put in place from Obamacare to Dodd-Frank to his tax policies to his regulatory policies, these policies combined have not let this economy take off and grow like it could have.

You might say, "Well, you got an example of one that worked better?" Yeah, in the Reagan recession where unemployment hit 10.8 percent, between that period - the end of that recession and the equivalent of time to today, Ronald Reagan's recovery created twice as many jobs as this president's recovery. Five million jobs doesn't even keep up with our population growth. And the only reason the unemployment rate seems a little lower today is because of all the people that have dropped out of the workforce.

The president has tried, but his policies haven't worked. He's great as a - as a - as a speaker and describing his plans and his vision. That's wonderful, except we have a record to look at. And that record shows he just hasn't been able to cut the deficit, to put in place reforms for Medicare and Social Security to preserve them, to get us the rising incomes we need. Median income is down $4,300 a family and 23 million Americans out of work. That's what this election is about.

It's about who can get the middle class in this country a bright and prosperous future and assure our kids the kind of hope and optimism they deserve.

Obama was all style--aggressive and confrontational---ROMNEY WAS ALL SUBSTANCE--go back and read Romney's reply above.

The most important take-away last night regardless of your leaning is how much Romney was on the defensive. When he is challenged and taken out of his briefing book he has this habit of stumbling and looking askance.

The "Debates" are not so much as to answer the questions in their specificity, but they are meant to provide a platform for each candidate to espouse their broad positions. The viewers will determine who is more like them. No one questioned Jim Lehrer - the moderator in the first debate - over non-specific questions that were meant to show the differences between the two men; and so no one should have similar thoughts about specific questions asked by ordinary folks who are not journalists or political pundits.

Bottom line is that Romney got his head handed to him. The momentum he had following the first debate which enabled him to close the gap somewhat is going to dissipate. The country is seeing how disconnected he is when he advocates Bush-on-steroids economic policies and outsource foreign policy to the discredited neo-cons like Rumsfeld and Cheney. His fakery becomes self-evident when you challenge him with the facts and show how he flip-flops on positions.

In debate #1 Obama was slaughtered by Romney; in debate #2 Obama was energized, he was aggressive---he was confrontational--he attacked Romney--he repeated his class warfare talking points---and he lied.

LYING IS OBAMA'S STRONGEST SUIT---AND HE LIED LAST NIGHT!

RE: THE LIBYA QUESTION

Obama lied, but Romney fumbled the reponse and Crowley helped out Obama by wrongfully stating that Obama did say it was an act of terror in Bengahzi.

RE: INDEPENDENTS AND UNDECIDED VOTERS

For those voters Obama came across as boorish and biden-esque. Romney was polite and firm--Obama seemed quarrelsome, frustrated, nasty and cranky.

POLLS:

Gallup: R 51% O 45%

Rasmussen: R 49% O 48%

Marquetts poll--WISCONSIN: O 49%  R 48%

Come Nov 6th America will elect Mitt Romney as her 45th President.

Dont understand why some people describe him as looking angry.  It was Romney who seemed as if he was going to attack him...invading his space early in the debate..when he realized that the Obama who showed up wasnt the sleepy one he met last time.  In fact i found Romney to be down right rude and provocative, like when he stormed towards Obama demanding an answer to some silly question.

Rev Al I am still waiting for Romney to tell me what a President Romney will do.  Sorry, reciting all the woes of the economy (we already know this) doesnt cut it because we see no proof that he will do any better.  Squealing...I can do it....you got to believe me....I have always balanced budgets...doesnt cut it.

Its a real pity that the Obama of last night wasnt there the first debate as if this was the case Romney would have been measuring the drapes of his retirement home on Costa Rica.   Maybe he still will but we will see.

What was interesting is that romney couldnt refute Obama's claim that he looked at a coal plant..said this kills people..then promptly closed it down.

Oh well there goes OH as even the coal belt in the SE will now worry about him.

Next debate Monday.  Obama's only weakness will be the Benghazi fiasco which you bet Romney will want to rage on.

Alas for him Bengahazi 2012 is no Tehran of 1979 as there are no huge crowds urged by a foreign gobvt denouncing the Evil Satan. In Fcat crowds went on a rampage against those believed to be anti USA.

Cairo quiet too.

I hope that the GOP gets thoroughly spanked so that they will learn that the Tea Partiers are a small fraction of the American public.

The American public will decide on election day.

All Romney did was repeat what we all know.  the economy sucks.

What he did NOT do is tell us what he plans to do about it.  His tax plans are now in complete disarray.  He originally wanted to help out the "job creators"....now he wishes to help the middle class...Obama wanted to do this  a while back.

And aside from taxes the rest is a wish list.....wails of "I have balanced every budget" do not cut it as balancing the budgets of a company that Bain acquired....through massive layoffs, outsourcing etc, dont cut it when running teh Fed govt.

His plans do not make mathematical sense, and we are still ignorant of why he thinks otherwise.

Sorry.  Romney was aggressive, cranky and very provocative in chasing Obama round the room screaming for answers. Clesrly he realized early on that Obama was landing blows on him, and he had no response and that Obama wasnt allowing him to get away with lies.

He is a rich white man so is allowed privileges that a "poor" white man like Biden and a non white man like Obama do not have.  In fact some of his gestures earned him a box in the face and to Obama's credit, he desisted from this.

I liked how Obama used the "47%".  Right at the end when Romney couldnt respond to it.

I suspect a very frightened Romney will show up on Monday.  While IMHO Obama is a bit sketchy on discussing the economy and giving us a vision of the next 4r years he is excellent when he talks about foreign affairs.  His weak point, Benghazi> he will have a response as we have not seen any further violence in the Middle East, so claims of his foreign policy unraveling look ridiculous.

NOW LET US HOPE THAT OBAMA DOES NOT LET THIS VICTORY GET TO HIS HEAD.

We need to see the SAME Obama next week. Romney is ignorant of anything outside of analyzing corporate balance sheets and he should be made mince meat when the nuances of international relationships becomes the topic.

FM

Obama did not devastate Romney in last night's presidential debate. Romney mentioned that the price of gas in Nassau County was 1.86 per gallon in 2008 and now it's over $4.00 clearly indicates to us that the president's energy policy does not work. Obama did not say that number of jobs created during his term in office netted out to a negative figure. His administration did not have a proper explanation for the Benghazi tragedy for two weeks. If you love Obama too much you would not see his flaws. The Republicans will win New York.  Take it from a registered Democrat.

carib:

In 2008 Obama received 43% of the white vote; in 2012 he'll likely get 37% of the white vote---the "large numbers of whites crowding around Obama" were part of that 37%.

Now, let's do the math.

* If Obama gets 37% of the white vote and 80% of the darkies---and lets assume whites comprise 75% of the voters and darkies 25%---then Obama will receive:

(0.37 x 75) + (0.80 x 25) = 27.75 + 20.00 = 47.75% of the popular vote.

47.75% IS A LOSING NUMBER CARIB!

Obama will be a one term President---no way Mullah Obama gets to 270 electoral votes with 47.65% of the popular vote.

If Romney is way ahead on the economy why did the Nobel prize winner of Economics picked Obama over Romney on the economy?

The people who decide that don't live here or vote.  The also gave Obama the peace prize and also gave Arafat and Perez.  What peace do we have?

The barometer is the US population, not the Nobel prize c'tee.  Viewers at the debate overwhelmingly gave those point to Romney.
