In the US, we dial 011592 to connect with a Guyana number or send a text. I'm not sure if you dial the same way in Canada when trying to call or text a Guyana number. You have to do in the same way that you would when making a phone call.

Keep in mind that international texting rates apply. Around 35 cents per text in the US.

The 100 free may only apply to local texts. I have a local texting plan where I get a few hundred free but I have to pay for each international text. The international texts are not covered in the local plan. You have to find out from your cell phone company how it works there.

I have a WindMobile phone and pay Cdn 25 cents per text message to Guyana and any other country, 15 cents per text to anywhere in Canada and the United States. No contract; pay as you go.

just checked,i have unlimited txt msg including intl,my daughter use to work at Bell Cda,she got a special employee plan for us. i am good until jan 2014.

That is free through google voice on computer or Talkatone on your mobie.  But the person receiving may have to pay unless they also have googlevoice or  talkatone.

I stopped sending texts 2 years ago, everyone I know is using whatsapp.

Skype is free from mobile if the other person is online on their computer or phone. You can call their  mobile phone or landline if you have a subscription.

I have the Magic Jack Plus. I recently took it to China and had no problems.

I had free WIFI connections. Also, my kids have the Apple products, so I was able to do "Facetime" with everyday for free.
