A primary school is investigating after it  sent a six-year-old girl to the doctors with the wrong grandfather - who also  failed to notice it was not his granddaughter.

 

The pensioner picked up the pupil, who has  the same first name and hair colour as his granddaughter, and took her on a  mile-long bus ride to the surgery.

The GP who saw the girl did not even realise  the man had the wrong girl with him and the youngster was prescribed liquid  paracetamol.

 

 

The 74-year-old grandfather, who has poor  eyesight, then dropped the confused little girl back at Napier Primary School in  Gillingham, Kent, around an hour later.

 

The mistake only came to light when the  six-year-old got home and said to her parents: 'Here’s my medicine'.
