Berklee Indian Ensemble ft Shreya Ghoshal - Aap Ki Nazron Ne Samjha (Live at Berklee)

In 2017, the Berklee Indian Ensemble presented a landmark collaborative concert with its fifth Artist in Residence, Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal. The Ensemble is delighted to share an excerpt from that evening: a reimagining of the 1962 classic, “Aap Ki Nazron Ne Samjha”. Presented here with just four musicians — Ms. Ghoshal, lauto player Vasilis Kostas (Greece), violinist Layth Sidiq (Iraq/Jordan), and tabla player Giri Subramaniam (India) — this simple but soulful interpretation was performed in tribute to one of India’s most iconic voices: Lata Mangeshkar.

NO ONE can ever sing like Lata..

but Shreya is 1 of the best ever female Hindi singers (after Lata )

she is very versatile too..can do Asha’s song ….

Before Shreya , I used to enjoy Anuradha Paudal …but she moved to classical/spiritual music n left Bollywood

Alka yagnik is good..i enjoy her songs …n she sang many hit songs ..

but she is nothing close to Lata..

I tend to stay away to compare anyone to the legend, Lata. Clearly Shreya is ahead of most of the current singers.

Apart from Hindi, she speaks English and sings comfortable in Malayalam and Tamil.

Very versatile.
