I stopped by the Supermarket on my way home. I saw Haitian mangoes; I picked up 3 not looking at the price. When I got home I saw they were $1.50 each. I called the supermarket and asked the guy, "Can you please tell me the price for the Haitian mangoes?" he put me on hold, came back and said, "We don't have Haitian mangoes, we have mangoes from Haiti. They are $1.50 each."

I held stifled my laugh and asked him what was his name he said Jose. I told him if the mango is from Haiti, then it is called Haitian mango... he insisted they did not have any Haitian mangoes... they have mango from Haiti. I said OK. Have a good evening. Smile

Aa Hah... but is it Buxtonian mangoes or
Mangoes from Buxtonian?

there could be a verity of mangoes coming from Haiti, so would you classified them as Haitian Mangoes or Mangoes from Haiti
Jose, might just have a mango point.

OK - Bash - to use your point about the different mangoes... a person born in Guyana is a Guyanese; but we a nation of 6 races & mixed races. On our BC - it was not stated Indian Guyanese, Black Guyanese, Chinese Guyanese et al.

I have always seen the mangoes labelled as Haitian mangoes or Mexican mangoes....

Hope you get my point...

I see your point, and I know your intentions were good, however, I have dealt with many different nationality through out my life here in Canada, and I find Filipino and Spanish, people, in particular, do not care to learn about any other cultures or care to know or what simple things orginate from... unless, of course, they are about getting a promotion in a sector and then you would see them automatically starting to assimilate, I can venture to say, we Guyanese are the most unique people ever born on this planet, we have a stanza!!!

Love a sweet, juicy mango! The other day I went to a Filipino produce store and the mango was $1.75 each. Went to a chinese store across town and a box of 12 was $3.00. Wifey has serious reservation shopping in Chinatown. She is suspicious of most of the products including fruits and vegetables. Think she is on to something?

Gilbakka don't eat no kinda mango, but Gilbakka want to jump in dis muddle.
IGH is an English-speaking lady.
Jose is a Spanish-speaking man.
Haiti is a French-speaking country.
The English-speaking lady knows the word "Haitian."
The Spanish-speaking man doesn't know the word "Haitian." He most likely knows the phrase "desde de Haiti," i.e., "from Haiti."
The English-speaking lady asked the Spanish-speaking man: "Can you please tell me the price for the Haitian mangoes?"
She should have said: "How much the Haiti mangoes cost?"
Jose might have "comprende" dat.
