KEY LARGO
From 1:14 to 1:58 was on Howard Campus. I was there with John Carter jr. ( the Guyanese ambassador's son). We were in summer school. We did not get filmed because another Guyanese, Reggie Withers was smoking a joint behind us and the Camera man avoided us. Reggie was a crazy dude back then. My girlfriend kicked me out ( or rather I ran away) earlier that spring for cheating so I bunked with john in his dorm until the Summer. Reggie would be there every morning to wake us up. I came to know Gil Scott very well some years later through my wife. We would go to Tacoma station to see him play. He was also a great artiste plagued by personal demons.
GEORGETOWN
I was about to post that. I saw NY extensively for the first time in the summer of '79 when I hang out with a girl, Alba Moreno around 125 and Broadway It was dirty and broken down but it had life an vitality that I could not understand. They played this song on TV all the time to promote the city and I came to like it a lot. One thing I noticed in spanish harlem at the time, they were still in platforms and bell bottoms. I was the odd man out with pencil pants. Canada and England had already moved away from that gear. I remember that era by girlfriends and songs!
GEORGETOWN
Eddie Grant is a treasure. I think he is in Barbados. Electric avenue was out when I was still in school. Saw him in Guyana...the only time.
BARBADOS
Lived here 12 years. My favorite city..still have our main home here but we hardly go these days. The kids have it.
Not into country but can take Blake. Live here mostly now. OKC
One of my Fav...he never starts at the first verse.
CALIFORNIA
Drove through Alabama...made a few stops
I used to play this song as a kid in Guyana and never could have ever understood what it means until I saw the places mentioned here. I think the Shenandoah valley is indeed heaven. I bike there a lot in the summer and never get tired of it.

Like any song where the guitar holds the music together...
In my wheel house...
spent a week in NO...one of the high lights was visiting preservation hall...what a place to listen to Jazz!
This song made me to go to San Francisco. I wish I could live there.
Joan Jett New Orleans.....She grew up in my hood in rockville area I am told.

I prefer the original version of "Georgetown Girl" by The Equals (including Eddy Grant) before he went solo.
When I first came to the U.S. my high school mate was going to Harvard. He was attending summer school and invited a few friends to come up. He sneaked us into the empty dorms and we spent a great weekend in the Cambridge/Boston area.
