What's going on in relation to track and field, high jump etc among the schools in Guyana?
I look at track stars from Jamaica, Trinidad, St. Kitts, Barbados and other Caribbean countries performing at international competitions. I never see anyone from Guyana.
Are the school grounds in order? DO they have budgets dedicated to sports and the maintenance of grounds? What about individual schools trying to network with past students who may want to help financially, although people helping might want accountability in terms of how their funds are being used.
Not every kid is cut out to get 15 - 20 subjects in CXC, sports is an avenue to take them off the streets.
They really should have competitive sports among the schools. They should spend money on facilities. Have some kind of national competition.
Cricket alone aint cutting it....
