Anyone will be watching?

The reality TV show “Survivor” returns Wednesday with its 27th edition, “Blood vs. Water,” and this time there’s a particularly intimate edge to the show’s cutthroat action: Ten veterans, including Monroeville native Colton Cumbie, each got to bring along a loved one.

The pitch must have been interesting: “Hey, I love you. Want to come with me to a place where relationships are the currency in a Machiavellian game of betrayal that only one of us can win?”

Cumbie was a standout in “Survivor: One World,” an openly gay man who used his nasty side to buffalo weaker personalities into doing his bidding. For “Blood vs. Water,” he brought along Caleb Bankston, the man he intends to marry.

Meet them, and the rest of the cast in the accompanying photo gallery. Cumbie is hardly the only colorful character in this roster, which includes three-time veteran and fan favorite Rupert Boneham, past winner Tina Wesson and even a past winner of another reality show, “Big Brother.” Below: a survey of the cast by host Jeff Probst.

It also includes Monica Culpepper, who was the victim of a classic “Survivor” blindside engineered by Cumbie in the fifth episode of “One World.” If a grudge lingers, it won’t take long to find out. A 90-minute premiere airs at 7 p.m. central time, Wednesday, Sept. 18, on CBS.

VB, I only realized today (from looking at the evening news) that this show has been on since 2000. I only have seen bits and pieces over the years; never a complete episode. I can't seem to get into any of the reality shows.

tonight show was boring, after watching it now for about 4 years, I have found the magic is gone. There is nothing new and the repeat people coming back are boring. I think the producers should think about pulling the plug on the show after this season. They have had their peak, time to let it go.
