Ramouthar has already made some strategic mistakes....he appointed several tainted left overs from the Jagdeo administaration to his cabinet, he could have appointed qualified folks from outside of the PPP-Civic circle and set up a national govt to tackle the problems we face as a nation.....
Let it be clear that given our political history of ethnic strife only a govt made up of all political forces can succeed in bridging this ethnic divide......We can use South Africa as a model....We have been in govt for 19 years and still the same old problems....the first five years under Cheddi saw some hope in ethnic healing but things started to fall apart after he died.....
Ramouthar has an opportunity to continue Cheddi's program which was scuttled by Jagdeo in the early 2000's....if Ramouthar cannot find the program I can tell him where to look.....
Regarding the AFC let us not be blinded to what those folks accomplished as they gave the PPP an opportunity to put things right for all the people of Guyana....they levelled the political playing field and so far Ramouthar has not taken the ball and run.....

It is the culture of the PPP that is based on patronage and nepotism so its rank is not filled naturally from below. It is cherry picked from among the loudest sycophant and best knee benders.quote:Originally posted by Churchill:

No hard feelings Alena....I know you are of a younger generation and may not be aware of the many issues which cause us to be in the position we are in today.....
We must not forget that the PPP was founded to champion the cause of the oppressed and to promote equality, social justice and freedom for all Guyanese.....during the past few years under Jagdeo the PPP has strayed away from its original goals....those of us who recognise this derailment of the PPP must speak out and act to correct things.....

They may not be the BEST but they are capable of doing the Job required. The Opposition Members cannot be trusted. Lookwhat happen when you put them on Commissions, they stall everything. Hence, no Attorney General Appointment, there will be no Speaker appointed and the list goes on. When the PPP trusted Ex PNC members to Arbitrate Civil Service increases in 1993(I believe) a Guyanese from Barbados headed the Committee and approved a 3000 % increase without any givebacks from the Unions. I can go on and so as to why the Opposition cannot be TRUSTED.

This is one of the key reasons he should have made an effort to reach out to the other parties to form the govt.....
It should be clear to all that the PPP gained the presidency but lost the majority.....the president if he had the interest of the Guyanese people at heart should have reached out by now....after all he is president of Guyana and not the PPP.....

51 percent of the people do not trust these corrupt folks and that speaks for itself. The majority of the rest are there with their options trapped by fear and racial prejudice while the rest is there to slurp soup.quote:Originally posted by Nehru:

In 1993 Guyanese workers across the board deserved more that a raise especially after the PNC misrule when raises were not given....
BTW the person was Dr.Armstrong who worked in Barbados at that time.....

Yes there must be common ground reached by all for the sake of Guyana as a whole.....Ramouthar must recognise that he heads a weak govt....reaching out would be one way of reaching that common ground which is critical at this point in time.....
