* My Mom does, indeed, have a sweet melodious voice---I wish I had picked up the singing genes from her.

* But Mom couldn't match my late grandmother---it was a joy listening to her sing.

* Grandma was a HAPPY woman---and so is Mom---Rev picked up some HAPPY genes from those 2 great human beings.

* I see your curiosity has been peaked. You are curious to learn what the Rev sounds like, huh ?

* Oh well! The Rev believes it's good to be mysterious at times, and so there will be no voice postings on social.

One has to be pleased with ones self concept not self. The self is a transactional system that mediates between what is known of the world and how one accesses that in individual instances. Every conquests of incongruity between understanding and  problem mediated by our mind and our passions are the source of our individual joys. Success at this over sustained period is the source of our happiness. It is not the stupid suggestion that happiness emerge is one just say "I love myself".

One must know one self to do that. All religion and philosophy begins in self knowledge and that is not solipsistic and merely concerned with the "I" that thinks. In the modern reductionist world it it the synoptic view ie concerned with everything, the "us" the "we" and the "it"  and how as individuated entities one may gain insight on them and reconstitute "a  self". In this mode of thinking self is the security or intellectual stability that one gets that one is located in the world. That involves a  convergence in the understanding or our cultural environment  with an understanding of our reality that gives us comfort.

Further, many philosophical views reject the self completely and view the idea of happiness as grounded in the self as the greatest sin. Hinduism, Bhuddaism, Taoism, Zen all  believes in the self sublimating into the whole is the only  means of attaining happiness. The self is an illusion.

Whether the perspective is western or Eastern, happiness as a state of mind ( that locates us comfortably in the world) is the soundest definition for happiness. It does not magically arise by saying I love me. That is by definition selfish! It is unsound! It is the best definition for ignorance as bliss!

Rev,

My curiosity is not Rev specific. I would have made the same comment to any other poster. I am a curious (fass baaad) person; after all, that's how we learn

* That is 1 million percent correct.

Rev

Rev, didn't you once dedicate an entire thread some time back to couples who travel together? I could be wrong. Old age has me mixing things up
