Last Saturday Ms.Doris Washington nee Awah passed on peacefully after a period of illness....

Doris was at one time a very active member of the Peoples' Progressive Party, a senior member of the Womens' Progressive Organisation and a member of the Michael Forde Bookstore staff....

Doris was a fighter in the struggle for independence and later for fair and free elections in Guyana....

She will be missed by her family,many friends and comrades.....

Viewing today at Elcock's Funeral Home at 129th Street and Liberty Avenue from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm after which services will be held....the funeral is being planned for tomorrow,Tuesday July 12th details of which will be made available at the services tonight.....
