Every political party has their own internal way of nominating their party leader/presidential candidate. It is not so important until it gets to the general vote and if the PPP put forward a candidate that is not supportable by the general public, they will suffer the consequence. When we talk about letting the Guyanese people vote for the candidate, are we talking of all Guyanese or just the PPP supporters and how would they know if the person is PPP or not?

I am a firm believer that leadership is not a learnt art, it is basically to possess a set of values that analyzes human frailities and devise a manageable responses. Such values cannot be found in every person.

Dr. Jagan is the sole cause of our miseries. He had 2 opportunities to do good for every Guyanese. Failed, due to indoctrinations of the Ruskies. CBJ was the curse of Guyanese people.

Usually Cigar, ayuh need to change the "we" , "abhe" attitude,it's dampening progress for all the people in Guyana,same goes for those on the other side of the fence.

No argument with this. It is just not practical to have everybody participate in the so-called primaries. Even in the US that doesn't happen and in Florida where I live, only Democrats chose the Democratic candidate and only Republicans chose the Republican candidate. If you are a registered Independent in Florida as I was, you are completely locked out of the primaries.

It is very easy to be fair when one is just observing. I don't go to sleep worrying about Guyana. I am too focused on my two children. Plus I don't need to resort to name calling because I don't take anything here personally. I used to be more affected but hopefully I have found a way to be different now. I actually find it amusing when supposedly educated people resort to name calling. Even bastardizing peoples' names is childish to me and I am personally surprised that it is frequented by some of the supposedly most educated posters here. When I was a teenager, I used to hang out with this guy from Rohinital St. He used to use the f word in almost every sentence. I once asked him why he did that and he said that it is how he is able to express himself. I thought even back then that it was a sad situation that he was apparently lacking sufficient vocabulary to adequately express himself. And I barely went to school.

I use cuss words nowadays to provide some shock texture to my comment but they are done in a jovial manner. I refrain from comments like "go f uck yourself" I would say in a jovial manner that some woman looks like a good f uck".

If the PPP does not field a candidate that is decent and honest, then I urge all Guyanese to be like Charrandas Persaud and take a principled stance. Do not vote for anyone the next general elections.

PPP fielding a candidate that is "decent and honest". This coup was engineered to ensure that Jagdeo would get his oil money. He picked a time when he knew that the PNC had a leadership crisis and wasn't prepared for elections and when its base was angry with them.

The candidate will be the man who allows Jagdeo all the scams that he wishes.  And who cares how tribal lines are hardened and the prospects for Guyana's demise become more likely.

I also knew Jagan. I remember many meetings with him and Janet at their Bel Air home and have commented that they were both nice, warm and likeable people (well, Carib don't like them). The PPP is Jagan's baby so it would be strange that he would just sit back in his rocking chair and watch it burn to the ground.

Jagan gave the PNC 28 years.  Jagdeo gave them 3.  That's the difference.

Jagdeo gave them shit, unless he paid Charrandas.

This move actually empowered the Volda element. The PNC grass roots might believe that Greenidge and those middle class types "too soft".

The PPP instead of putting a man like Anthony, who I dont think is seen as a threat by blacks, they want Anil.

As Vishmahabir said the PPP knows how to win elections, but governing a diverse nation they dont. When that oil money spilling and blacks dont get any just go into your brain to see what happens.

I know what you mean. Granger laid very low until he was elected President and then he promptly resurrected the Burnham graveside where he began making regular pilgrimages.

I don't know that he is the most honest out of the whole bunch. That is how people like to advertise him but there are many cases where he acted in a very distrustful manner.

While on the surface it would appear that the PNCR is unprepared, it is quite possible that it has been making plans because of David Granger's ailment.

It will be of interest to note how the PNCR will unveil its Presidential candidate and members for the elections which must be held within three months -- most likely by the end of March 2019.

We know about Harmon and certain other APNU and AFC ministers. No mention of Granger.
