Artist Miru Kim has earned international acclaim by taking photos of herself in surprising places, such as this spot in Istanbul, Turkey.

"My work in general involves getting over my fears that are deeply imbedded since childhood: Fear of darkness, fear of dangerous activities in general, and fear of dirt -- I had a considerable obsessive compulsive disorder as a child," she said. "It's beyond therapeutic. I do this through art, because I identify with countless other people who go through
the emotions of overcoming fears."

Guru Kailash Singh Quit Bathing 37 Years Ago

Some say cleanliness is next to godliness, but not Guru Kailash Singh who quit bathing 37 years ago, because he believe he'd be rewarded for his sacrifice.

Kailash, 65, a farmer from India, stopped using soap and water in 1974, after his wedding. He also hasn't cut his dreadlocks, according to the news agency Barcroft.

It wasn't because he no longer needed to attract the ladies that he let himself go. Kailash reportedly abandoned washing because a priest told him it would help him produce a son.

With seven daughters born since then, he's still waiting for a male heir.

Each evening, Kailash winds down the day with a "fire bath" ritual of smoking marijuana, praying to the Hindu god Shiva and dancing around a campfire.

There was one failed attempt by his family to force him into a stream.

β€˜He fought us off and ran away,’ his wife Kalavati Devi, 60, told Barcroft. β€˜We’ve tried several times since to force him to have a shower but he puts up such a fuss.

Dead Man, Michael Wylie, Sought For Jury Duty For 5 Years In Massachusetts:

GEORGETOWN, Mass. -- A Massachusetts man facing a criminal complaint for failing to appear for jury duty apparently had a good excuse.
He's been dead for five years.
State Deputy Jury Commissioner John Cavanaugh said last week that the state will not proceed with serving a criminal complaint against Michael Wylie.

The late Georgetown resident was issued a notice to serve on jury duty five years ago but at the time he was in hospice care and had terminal cancer. He died a few months later but the commission continued to send letters about his failure to report.

Wylie's family says they tried to tell authorities that he had died but officials say the family never sent a death certificate.

Imagine what they would do to the living for avoiding jury duty.

Drunk Jetstar Passenger Urinates in Plane Aisle, Gets off With a Warning:
A drunk Jetstar passenger just couldn't seem to make it to the lavatory, instead using the airplane aisle to relieve himself. And, he got off with only a warning.

The New Zealand man was on a flight from Auckland to Singapore Monday, and had been seen by passengers before the flight drinking whiskey with friends out of Burger King cups.

Six hours into the eleven-hour flight, he then proceeded to let loose in the aisle – urinating on the carpet, a man's leg and a woman's scarf, reports the New Zealand Herald.

"I hear this sound of running water and then I hear a guy going 'No, no, no, what the hell is wrong with you?' passenger Amos Chapple told the paper. "And there's this guy pissing in the aisle, waving back and forth."

Iftekhar Murtaza & Marissa Star Bilotti Wed Behind Bars:

Two suspected murderers got married behind bars today, reports the OC Register. The bride is 20 year-old Marissa Star Bilotti and the groom is 26 year-old Iftekhar Murtaza.

The whirlwind romance began in January, when the couple began writing letters to each other. By the second month they were in love, despite having never physically met each other, and by April they were engaged.

Bilotti's lawyer won a court order for the couple to marry earlier in June, but the motion was blocked by the OC sheriff's department. Officials eventually yielded last week, and today the happy couple exchanged vows on the phone in the jail's waiting room. They were physically separated by a wall and and communicated via telephone. KTLA called it a "bizarre jailhouse wedding."

Never question how we love and where we love. Word of the day is love.

Joan Parker Charged With Assault For Kissing Preacher At Gay Pride Event:

RALEIGH, N.C. -- A Bible-waving preacher protesting at a gay pride event in North Carolina turned the other cheek – and got kissed on it by a 74-year-old female gay rights supporter who is now charged with simple assault.

Joan Parker admits she kissed a preacher on the cheek at the event, proclaimed by the Salisbury mayor as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Day.

"He was just waving his arms and has a Bible in one hand, up and down, and screaming at the top of his lungs, `sodomites' and `you're going to hell,'" Parker said in a phone interview. "I thought he needed a hug. So I gave him a hug."

At some point, Parker said, the preacher turned to yell to a man with a camera to take a picture of her. Also at some point, she kissed him. On the cheek, she says, not on the mouth.

"He claims I kissed him on the lips, and he's a damned liar," said Parker, who is from Colfax and said he was at the event with her husband to show support. "I believe I did kiss him on his cheek."

The preacher, James Edward Belcher of Taylorsville, says he never claimed Parker kissed him on the lips, but that's only because he turned his face as she came toward him.

"If I hadn't turned my head, I'd have gotten it right on my mouth," said Belcher, 49, minister at New Light Baptist Church No. 2 in Millers Creek.

Father, you're making a big deal out of a little kiss. You weren't supposed to be among gays in the first place.
