“ Oruvan Oruvan Mudhalali “ from Muthu is one of those songs that injects you a lot of confidence and keeps you going. It is a song that portrays the way to lead a contended and happy life. Arunachalam – Athaanda Ithaanda

The SundarC directorial Arunachalam had music composed by Deva. The opening song “ Athanda Ithanda “ was a peppy dance number portraying the love of Superstar on the people, also glorifying the star. This is one of the foot tapping number that never get bored even after hearing a thousand times. Sung by SPB, this song had lyrics penned by Vairamuthu sir.

1999 :

Padaiyappa – En Peru Padaiyappa

Padaiyappa is one of the biggest blockbusters and is still a template for many other films. The opening song “ En Peru Padaiyappa “ glorifies Superstar Rajinikanth in a way that stands ahead of all other intro songs of him. Composed by ARRahman and sung by SPB, it has etched its own place in the music world and in the hearts of people.

Baba – Dippu Dippu

The song “ Dippu Dippu “ is by far one of the best songs that makes us understand the life with its simple lyrics, with catchy tune and with Superstar. Music composed by ARRahman and sung by Shankar Mahadevan.

Sivaji – Ballelaka

When Shankar joined hands with Rajini sir and ARRahman, they were sure to give a blockbuster and hence is Sivaji. The opening song “ Ballelaka “ in this movie was a perfect dance number and Superstar nailed it with his infectious energy. Composed by ARRahman and sung by SPB, this song had so much of nativity in it and transfers lot of energy to the listener whenever played. 

2008 :

Kuselan – Cinema Cinema

Kuselan was all together a different film in Rajini sir’s career, where the Superstar appears as an actor in the same. And this song “ Cinema Cinema “ from Kuselan is by far the anthem of all cinema people, glorifying the efforts in making a film and its importance, also defining the phenomenon “ Superstar “. Composed by a young music director GVPrakashKumar and sung by ShankarMahadevan, this song is by far the best song about Superstar and cinema. 

2010 :

Endhiran – Pudhiya Manidha

Surprisingly, Shankar’s Endhiran didn’t have an opening song for the Superstar, instead had this “ Puthiya Manitha “ in which the Robot got life. Completely situational and when people got to see Superstar as a Robot, it was more than appealing than a regular opening song glorifying the star. Composed by ARRahman and sung by SPB, Puthiya Manitha is a revealation.

2014 :

Lingaa – Oh Nanba

Just like other Rajini sir’s opening song with life values, “ Oh Nanba “ from the movie Lingaa is also one such. But it is the Superstar’s energy and ARRahman’s music that makes us feel fresh every time they come up with one such song. This song composed by ARRahman and sung by SPB is targeted at the youngsters and their lifestyle. One of the songs where 60+ year old Superstar turns 20+, just reflecting what he is at heart.
