MUMBAI — After Bhushan Kumar’s tribute to his father through a re-created track, his sister, Tulsi Kumar, will also pay tribute to their father, Gulshan Kumar, through a special song, this time an original number.

Today, Tulsi Kumar has sung for big names like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Katrina Kaif. But it was her father who realized that she has a beautiful voice and felt that she should train as a singer. Tulsi Kumar was seven years old then. She says, “I owe my father for where I have reached in my life. I used to hum songs while watching television as a kid, and, when Papa heard me, he liked my tonal quality. So I started my light classical music training initially in Suresh Wadkar-ji’s academy. As I entered the music industry, I felt that it is Papa’s blessings, and I am living his dream.”

So on the occasion of 30 years of T-Series when a special concert is being conceptualized for Gulshan Kumar, Tulsi Kumar has chosen the platform to thank her dad for his love and guidance. The song, titled “Mere Papa,” will be a first of its kind dedication and is penned by Manoj Muntashir and composed by Jeet Gannguli.

For Tulsi Kumar, the song is very close to her heart. “This is bhai (Bhushan Kumar)’s, my sister Khushali’s and my dedication to Papa on a day where we are celebrating our successful journey in the field of music. When I heard the melody, it instantly touched me. This song has shaped up in such a way that every father and child will be able to relate to it universally.”

The song will be performed live at the concert “Suron Ke Rang, Colors Ke Sang – Salaam Shri Gulshan Kumar” Sept. 22 in India on Aap Ka Colors. Top singers will also take part in this unique concert.
