My navel string is buried in a yard at New Annlegt, Canal #2 Polder, WBD, Guyana.

In that big plot of land were coffee, cashew, avocado, orange, grannadilla, sorrel, pomegranate, jamoon, plantain, cassava, eddo, tannia, bora, and a squash machaan with me nanee upturned pozee to ward off bad-eye.

As a child I loved to run around that space before the early morning dew-drops evaporated from the grass. And I loved to roll on it too, never mind the bright red grass-lice that clung to my you-know-where.

All these boyhood memories rise up in my brain as I listen to these two songs by Ram John Holder and Hilton Hemmerding.
