A former high school physical education teacher accused of having sex with five male students is changing her plea from not guilty to not guilty by reason of insanity.

The Dayton Daily News reported in February that 33-year-old Stacy Schuler was indicted on 16 counts of sexual battery and three counts of offenses involving underage persons. She allegedly had sexual relations at her home with the five students, mostly football players at the high school, on five separate occasions from August to December of 2010.

The plea change was filed Monday, but Schuler's lawyer declined to comment on why the change was made. According to Cincinnati.com:

"Generally, when I've seen these pleas, there's something behind this - it tells me something came up that's cause for concern," said Akron lawyer Carmen Roberto, past president of the Ohio State Bar Association. During his 38-year law career, Roberto estimated he had seen fewer than 10 such pleas amid thousands of cases as both a defense lawyer and prosecutor.

Schuler must now be examined by psychologists or psychiatrists to determine whether she suffers a mental disability that deters her from being able to tell right from wrong, Dayton Daily News reports.

If Schuler is convicted on all charges, she faces up to 81 years in jail.

most students at some point have a crush on a teacher or the other. But it's just wrong when a teacher act on those feelings.

A teacher must control her sexual feeling for underage students. If it's a male teacher who was involved the same or harsher punishment he would have to face. A teacher's gender should not set them apart in the face of the law. They're educators and must be able to set good examples. Let them get married if they want to have sex. If the sex with underage boys was consensual or legal she wouldn't have to defend herself. Double standard is out of place for seductive behavior.

Does this teacher take her profession a step further of being physically entangled with the opposite sex that caused her to be insane? Well, a psychologist may determine if she's able to stand trial.

I still don't know why you can't bang a teacher.
We are not talking morality here. Nobody can tell me that these football players are little angels or vigrins.
They all bang the young cheerleaders, so what's different with banging an older person?

Without morality, American educational system will extend courtesy to educators with sexual appetite for children. A school is a learning institution that relies on trust and respect of teachers. Not long ago a pediatrician was charged with molestation and rape with as many as 35 children. Those children will be affected for life. In the United States sexual predators are serious and must be kept at bay. You wouldn't know the effect of this nature, unless if happens to someone close to you.

I was schooled in Guyana and in the US. I had female teachers in Guyana, and I also had female instructors between semesters in NY. I wasn't married then and still I never had the urged to bang them. School is a school for me according to my learned principles, and it cannot be a W/hore house. I respected my teachers and I was there to learn something not to have sex. It shows who supported sexual predators that targeted school children. Be it men or women there is no excuse for such behavior for teachers. I hope when a female school child becomes a victim those who condone seductive behavior by teachers would not be bias then.
