Varun Dhawan outperforms Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan, Judwaa 2 becomes 2017’s biggest Bollywood hit

After Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Judwaa 2 is another consecutive hit of actor Varun Dhawan.

Varun, Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Judwaa 2 has earned a whooping amount of Rs 137 crore. And with this collection, Judwaa 2 has also become the highest Bollywood earner of 2017. 

Interestingly, Varun’s film has become the second highest film after SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, which was originally made in Telugu. Prabhas starrer Baahubali was the biggest earner of the year, which made a business of Rs 1700 crore on box office worldwide. 

Movie critic and Trade analyst Taran Adarsh sharing the total collection of Judwaa 2 wrote, “#Judwaa2 is now the SECOND HIGHEST GROSSER of 2017 *so far*, after #Baahubali2... Crosses lifetime biz of #Raees and #ToiletEkPremKatha...#Judwaa2...Week 1: ₹ 98.08 cr, Week 2: ₹ 27.76 cr, Week 3: ₹ 11.34 cr, Weekend 4: ₹ 63 lakhs. Total: ₹ 137.81 cr. India biz. SUPERHIT.”

Varun’s film Judwaa 2 is a remake of Salman Khan’s original 1997 hit film Judwaa. Both Varun and Salman’s films were directed by David Dhawan. 

Meanwhile, actor Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees earned a total of Rs 128 crore and Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet Ek Prem Katha made a collection of Rs 132 crore.
