Has anyone been to Montreal? I am planning to go to Halifax in July spend a week and then fly to Montreal for a week. Will take the train back from Montreal to Toronto.
Just worried about the language problem in Montreal. I have heard different stories how sometimes you get snubbed as English Canadians.
@Amral, I lived there in the 70's. English is predominantly spoken in Montreal. You will not have a problem with the language. If you get a chance visit Quebec City.
Have fun.
My siblings lived in Montreal in the 70s. We drove to them and toured all over, then to Ottawa and Toronto. Great trip.

Learn to say "Bonjour" , "hello", "Merci"
Most are bilingual in the tourists areas, restaurants and Police Force. Else they wouldn't get a job there.

Old Montreal is/was cool especially summer time.
so my trip is booked now to Charlottetown in June.
Mid July I decided to go to Victoria BC and Sidney BC, will stay 2 weeks there around the harbor area. Hope I can go on one of those Whale watching trips
And then late August to mid Sept I will be flying to Halifax for a week, then fly to Montreal for the next week and take the Via train back to Toronto.
I just checked my Via Rail points and I can get the trip from Montreal to Toronto Business class free.
I pay only the taxes (about $30.)
Will book it tomorrow Tuesdays are the Via discount days
