why would it not be worse when you have 20 times the people in a hundredth less space trying to move from one location to another?

Ask Raymond how long it took to get home.  In guyana hire car still run during blackouts.  I didn't get home till 6am next day.

This happens once every 20 years in NY. In Guyana, it's an every day occurrence.

I was on vacation several states away. Came home to a rotten, smelly fridge.

I had just returned to my hotel in Rome and CNN International (or BBC - I couldn't remember) had the snake of people emptying out of Manhattan and I thought they were showing a repeat of the 9/11 exodus. Then they mentioned the blackout.

Wow 10 years really went by fast.

I was in Schnectady at a closing  for I had sold a supermarket up there. Brought home a nice check that night along with some ice and milk form up there.

My wife and kids were in Guyana at that time. I stayed here, we were restocking the shelves when it happened. After waiting around for about an hour, we just locked up and go home. Did not go back into into work until the Sunday. My apartment halway had lights, and so was the stairwell. Emergency generator. There was an outlet just oustide my door in the hallway. I took a long extension cord and route it through the mailslot on my door and plugged it in. I was able run my table light and heat up my food in the microwave and make coffee the next morning.

Razz, like I was the only one fumbling around in the dark in NYC while everybody sporting.

Didn't bother us at all.

...and soothing some fires too???

That must have been quite a clean up task!

The blackout was only for a day or two.  Ah wondah what was in dat fridge!

I was by my Sweethoman House, I put on her Draws and she put on my Buckta in the dark.

So was there a baby boom 9 months later?
