Brazil just had its 9/11 and you have to expect a major change. Too many of their footballers play in the European leagues and were over-rated there because they were Brazilians. The only exception is Neymar who was a superstar for Santos in Brazil before he went to Barcelona where he was not over-rated as he didn’t play well in that style. This year’s World Cup squad had only two players who play in Brazil and they were bench players. Think of the England “Stars” – a bunch of over-rated players. Europe produces superstars like Zidane, Rossi, Cruyff, and Muller, etc. This German team has a bunch of such players in Khedira, Ozil, Sweinsteiger, and the others, even Boetang and Lam in the back.

Brazil was a flawed team but I still rooted for them hoping that the intangibles would kick in. But I have to acknowledge that Germany is by far the best team in the world today. The Argentines are like the “over-rated” stars of Europe – DiMaria, Zabaletta, etc, and even Messi who unlike Neymar can score with his left foot. Holland comes close to a team like Germany’s and I expect them to win today The two South American teams will play in the losers Super Bowl.

What I got from the Brazil-Germany game was that Brazil only has two players on their team, get rid off the rest rass.

Neymar and Bernard. The common thread of these two is that they've each played a total of 1/2 season with European clubs (Neymar because of injuries and Bernard because of mid-season transfer). They are Brazilian players who played most of their football in Brazilian leagues. The rest? A bunch of Brazilian-born players who played donkey years in Europe and hyped by the European media. I followed Paulinho with Tottenham Hotspurs last season and he was below average. I actually saw Osvaldo Ardilles and Mario Kempes from the Diego Maradonna teams of the 1978 when they played for the Spurs and they were so different from the English European players.

The 2014 Brazilian team is a fraud and Scolari should be locked up in jail. That's how angry I am at the desecration of Brazilian football.

Spain plays that stupid tiki taka style that Argentina plays and the one-foot kicker (cyant kisk with he right foot) Messi brings that Barcelona stupidity to the Finals. The only team that plays Brazilian football is Germany and that's why they win Sunday. If Brazil plays their 2nd Eleven they will beat Holland. Otherwise more humiliation as Robben, Van Persie and Schneider put it up against the likes of Fred and Hulk and Oscar and Gustavo and Luiz and Alves and.....

ARGENTINA 3 - 1 GERMANY

You must have heard of "Big Data". The Obama election campaign used it in both 2008 and 2012. Nate Silver used it also in his statistical analysis of the 2012 elections and called it on the money.

That's not why I think Germany will beat Argentina like 3 - 1 today. I look back at how the TEAM San Antonio Spurs humiliated the Miami Heat a month ago. The Heat had LeBron - the best on the planet - and Argentina has Messi. Argentina has a (hobbled) brilliant teammate in Di Maria. Oh the Heat had Dwayde and Bosh. The Spurs had a bunch of coachable guys who passed and passed and passed (you can't outrun the ball). Germany has football players with high IQ - another trait the Spurs had. Ozil, Khedira, Schurrrle, and they have their stars Schweisteigger and Muller among others, with Klose playing an important role. Defensively how can you top Boeatang and Lahm? Higuain and Zabalketto and Aguero will be shown to be like the Brazilian Alves and Luiz and Gustavo - a bunch of over-hyped players. Argentina's defense is much stiffer but Germany will score early and make Argentina take chances.

It will be too painful for Argentina to lift the Cup in Brazil, in MARACANA. No way. Not gonna happen.

I will have to respectfully disagree with a 3 -1 German victory. Argentina all the way too denying the Europeans a victory in South America. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The European winning on South American soil factor seems to be a biggie. Argentina is playing stout defense and looks the more dangerous on the break. With a German mistake here and there they could be up 2 - 0. Germany's game is more like a Brazilian build-up and they've had more possession. Maybe the Argentine defense running around may sap their stamina in the second half.

Unlike the Spain 2010 victory this year’s German team is younger and will be around longer together. Argentina is an old team in football terms and will evolve differently. Messi, as good as he is, cannot do what a Neymar can do – make others around him raise their game. He has never won the big ones, including the Copa America (the Euro Cup equivalent).

Ii can see Brazil changing things beginning immediately. I will look at their Copa America progress, their under 20 and Olympics teams. Ghana has a track record in the U20, Olympics but not in the African Cup. However you can see the raw local talent. The USA team will be different. Klinsmann will make this country a true soccer nation. It will not displace NFL Football, NBA Basketball and MLB Baseball yet, but it is going to take its place among the elite nations. I do not know why there is not a radical change in English Football organization. They need to have a cadre of players from U17 and U20 who when playing for their clubs will have a close management deal with the national team authorities.

Germany deserves its championship, even though their play today was not to the level of previous games, but the Argentine defense might have something to do with it. They played in a defensive shell (and you went long stretches without hearing Messi’s name mentioned) and eventually wore out. The winning goal was absolute brilliance.
