Trees exist everywhere even in deserts...but deserts are deserts because the have a relative absence of trees as poverty means a relative absence of assets indexed on some established threshold. We are forty percent below that threshold with the majority of the people barely above it.

Logging exist for eons in all countries, especially in the US_of_A, European countries, Britain, Canada, etc.. In a condensed explanation, while people have a myopic view on only logging, they are missing the real issues that removal of trees are important to provide renewed activities for the growth of new trees.

Every country has its "status", as can be reviewed / seen from the annual and other reports. While Guyana is "evaluated / classified" at a lower level, the country nonetheless is focused on astute management of the resources.
