It just goes to show that the PPP is going the full Burnham route.  In fact even worse as they use criminals to carry out their tasks.

In any other country, the government would have fallen

OCTOBER 29, 2014 | BY  | FILED UNDER FEATURES / COLUMNISTSFREDDIE KISSOON

I would strongly urge all Guyanese to keep in front of their eyes, the big picture in relation to the Anil Nandlall tape. It is the story of a cabal inside the Government of Guyana that came to a decision on what to do with Glenn Lall and the Kaieteur News paper itself.
In the coming days, the obsessive talk on this scandal will persist. But the big picture will be lost if we keep Nandlall in the frame as the main culprit. He is not. The chief conspirator in this drama is the cabal. Nandlall is just one of the players who mouthed off to a journalist he knows well.
Why did the Government in less than 24 hours, issue a statement supporting Nandlall? Because the statement was in support of the government itself.  Nandlall implicated the President of Guyana in the game of planned attack on KN and Mr. Lall.  Nandlall said that the President was in discussion with someone close to Lall and a decision was made that the Kaieteur News would stay away from any attack on the government for one week.
On the recording Nandlall said that not even for a week could Lall have “shut his mouth.” What it meant, then, was firstly, Ramotar wanted the KN to stop attacking the government. To test him they gave him a week to see if he could “cool out.”
Secondly, after the passing of the week, and Lall did not play ball, the conspiracy then had to proceed. In both instances, President Ramotar was involved.
Why is President Ramotar giving a newspaper a week to stop attacking the government as a standard by which to judge if the PPP hierarchy could make a deal with him? Why doesn’t Ramotar try that with me? Would they like to give me a week? Give me the week and they will see that in each of those articles for the week all will be filled with the most trenchant criticism of the tyrannical PPP regime, including Ramotar himself.
The Anil Nandlall tape, in which it was enunciated that there will be a planned violent attack on Lall and his staff, is the story of an entrapped government. This is not about an entrapped Minister. I repeat; the context of this thing must be seen as a confrontation with Lall and the leadership of the cabal.
Nandlall, in those twenty minutes, spoke in the plural. You have to be completely deaf not to hear him say that the continuous criticism has reached a stage where certain people (note the plural) have now become sensitive. The tape is punctuated with anger by Nandlall himself about the salvoes fired at him. But time and time again in that deadly 20 minutes of rampage, he constantly referred to the plural.
Here is another brazen example. He said that people have weapons and that they will use them against KN and Mr. Lall. Who are these people with their weapons? Who are the people that have become sensitive? The answer is simple – the extended cabal which takes in the major political players high up the PPP ladder and inside the Government of Guyana and their close associates.
Will the cabal still go through with their war at Saffon Street? I don’t know, because if people die through fire or guns at Kaieteur News in the coming months then I cannot see how the PPP can survive in power.
But this I know; now that the plot has been revealed through a secret recording (see Anil Nandlall’s letter, “There’s no right to privacy known to the laws of Guyana,” in the KN of March 23, 2006, in which he examined the Winston Felix tape scandal and concluded that Felix’s privacy was not invaded by the person who taped him), it would appear that many lives at Kaieteur News may have been spared, and that includes this columnist.
The sickening and chilling part of the tape is the part in which it was clearly stated that when the attack comes, if innocents at KN get killed, then that is something that cannot be avoided. In any other country, this tape scandal (notice I did not say Nandlall scandal) would have resulted in the fall of the government.
Let’s remind readers of the brutality in that tape. It is about a planned violent attack on the offices of Kaieteur News with the specific purpose of maybe killing Mr. Lall and his staff.  Mr. Nandlall made it pellucid that he was referring to people, not an individual. Those people reach high up in the seat of government.

Mars

I have been saying for years how we are being ruled by a brutal PPP regime, capable of any level of criminal action in order to silence decent. In its defence, the PPP is quick to scare the public with the scare story that things would be even more violent under the PNC. well if that is the case, then the people now have a third option: the AFC. We should not have to put up with enforced oppression by either the PPP or PNC.

Ramotar must demand Nandlall’s immediate resignation

- Minister has brought the AG’s Office into disrepute – AFC
The Alliance For Change in a statement released yesterday says the party is “shocked beyond disbelief” at the

recent revelations in a conversation between a Kaieteur News reporter and the Attorney General (AG), Mr. Anil Nandlall.
The party said that the transcript of the conversation “which the AG has most recently admitted as having said highlights that he has proven himself wholly unfit to hold the office of Attorney General of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana”.
“President Donald Ramotar must demand the immediate resignation of Mr. Nandlall, as his  failure to act swiftly on this issue would be an endorsement of such behaviour by persons who represent our country at the highest level in Guyana and internationally.
“It is now clear to the AFC that our party, civil society organisations and the citizens of Guyana cannot continue to do business with this Government if it holds persons in the ilk of Mr. Nandlall as its representative. Only his immediate resignation could save this country the embarrassment of having one of its highest offices brought further into disrepute and disgrace.”
The party said that it had noted in an audio recording released to the public, Nandlall indicates that he has intimate knowledge of an imminent attack on Kaieteur News, one where the very lives of staff of the media house will be endangered.
“This is a very dangerous state of affairs and must be taken seriously. As a leading figure in the system of law and order and an officer of the court, the Attorney General knows he has an obligation to inform the relevant authorities of an impending crime. Failure to do so is an indication of complicity and brings the office of Attorney General into disrepute.
The Alliance For Change calls on the Attorney General to share what knowledge he has that makes Kaieteur News a “dangerous place to work” and what he knows of people who, “gun just walk with their weapons into that same (expletive) Saffon Street office…”
The AFC stated that its position is that Mr. Nandlall issued veiled threats against the media house when he spoke of not

President Donald Ramotar

President Donald Ramotar

engaging a ‘Chatree’ in war and pointing to a “change in tempo” after Kaieteur News started reporting on a relative of his.
“Such threats coming from the Attorney General is totally unacceptable and raises the concern that he would abuse the powers of his office to victimise the media house.”
The AFC also expressed alarm at “Mr. Nandlall’s derogatory, disrespectful and totally unacceptable sexual comments in the conversation towards a female reporter in the conduct of her duties as a journalist and representative of the media. It is clear by the comments that he was prepared to use his influence to entrap this young woman in loose sexual behaviour. This lends credence to growing reports of high ranking members of the Government demanding sexual favours from women in their employ”.
“The level of language filled with expletives, his threats, hints of having knowledge of an impending serious crime and willingness to promote and encourage loose sexual behaviour are indictments against Anil Nandlall, and enough reason why he should be removed from office and cannot stand as a role model for young Guyanese.
The Alliance For Change is calling on the President to relieve the Attorney General of his position immediately so that the integrity of the Office of Attorney General can be restored,” the statement concluded.

If you listen carefully to the Tape Anil was suggesting that the man go work for GNI and that the way Lall is, he is scared that someone may visit Saffon Street again with weapons and harm innocent people.

THIS HAPPENED SOME MONTHS AGO: AND SUDDENLY THIS NEWS BREAKING STORY: GUESS LALL HAS TO BE CONCERNED:

Men in Anil Nandlall’s vehicle terrorize Kaieteur News staff

The approach of a black Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and the slow lowering of the dark tinted windows sent some staff members of Kaieteur News taking cover behind parked cars. Some in the building peeped out from behind posts.

The incident brought back memories of two horrific attacks on Kaieteur News in the past—the firebombing of the printing press at Eccles in 2002 and the killing of five Kaieteur News pressmen in 2006.

The black SUV turned out to be the vehicle used by Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Mohabir Anil Nandlall.

It was shortly after 13:00 hours on Monday when some staff members saw the vehicle approaching from the south along Saffon Street. When the vehicle neared the newspaper office both the left front and rear windows were lowered. The people saw hands going up and did not wait to see the result. One man was certain that he saw a gun in one of the hands.

Two minutes later the vehicle returned and the procedure was repeated. This time the vehicle stopped. The closed circuit television cameras revealed that the men appeared to be photographing the building and the vehicles parked outside.

It seemed that during the first pass the photographs were not good. The men appeared to be using camera phones. That was why they had to stop the second time around, a staff member said when he saw the video footage.

On receiving the report and verifying the number of the vehicle, Publisher Glenn Lall telephoned Mr. Anil Nandlall to complain about what he described as an act of terrorism. He then sent a text message to Mr. Nandlall protesting the intimidation of his staff.

Editor in Chief, Adam Harris, also called Mr. Nandlall who claimed ignorance of the affair. He said that he was attending an EID function on East Coast Demerara and that he was using a white Range Rover. Mr. Nandlall said that the Range Rover was hardly ever used and that he chose to do so on Monday.

In response to a query about who would use the vehicle when he opted to use another, Nandlall said that the Permanent Secretary could use the vehicle. He promised an investigation.

Up to Wednesday, there was no report from Nandlall. But the incident has left some staff members nervous. Glenn Lall said that he sees this latest incident as part of the scare tactics to silence this newspaper.

However, he said that he is not intimidated; that he will not be silenced.

He said that he has been critical of so many things that have been happening in the country, that he has attracted hostility from Government elements. In fact, former President Bharrat Jagdeo, President Donald Ramotar, People’s Progressive Party General Secretary Clement Rohee and other political types have resorted to describing the newspaper as the opposition media.

Some of them, including the Attorney General have resorted to suing the newspaper, which is another form of attempting to silence the newspaper. “I am surprised that the Attorney General has resorted to suing the newspaper and then terrorizing its staff.”

There are still staff members on roll who recalled facing two gunmen who had barged into the newspaper offices a few years ago, enquiring about the boss. At the time Mr. Lall was out of the country.
