Iman tink you shoulda had one glass a wine an record it in a few takes.
Jus joking banna. You makin Iman think maybe I should try that out. Just got me a 76 key Yamaha keyboard someone was tossing out...said it doesn't work. I took it home...ahem...PLUGGED IT IN...it works.
I cannot say I like it even though it is a good version. I prefer the Jeff Buckley version and I play it on a solo electric guitar ( set to clean) finger style (T12321T)to get the rolling triplet feel and the bell like tones ( actually it is 3 eight notes for every beat with four to the bar) I play it with a capo on the 5th using a G chord format ( and thinking in G) but it is actually in C.
I think you have a habit of oversingng. You have a pretty voice but are always singing these soft emotional songs rock style with that heavy up down beat. This is a soft sensual song with a poignant message ( some call it an ode to orgasm) and to over sings it is to ruin it. Good versions include KD Lang and Rufus Wainwright
What do you guys think of the lyrics to that song?
Monday last,I played it at our music hour with our adult clients, it sounded great if i must say so myself. I then followed it up with Footloose what a switch eh?

There are over 80 known verses to that song. Cohen simply could not find the final mix. Interpretations of it ranges from the sombre John Cale's version( the first), to the sexual Buckley version or to the almost liturgical Wainwright's version. KD lang sang it as a victory or celebratory song of life ( and over cancer). Allison Crowe also has a wonderful version of it. Buckley's mix of verses is the most consistent cover and one we hear most often from funerals to weddings to Bar Mitzvas to a quinceaÃąera or even a drinking party. It is a universal song. I play it often as well.
