President Donald Ramotar on Monday, bemoaned the burden of the Linden protest on the national economy and thousands of Lindeners.
The president addressing Toshaos at the opening of their annual conference in Georgetown, said he has given clear instructions to the security forces to ensure that law and order is maintained.
He apologized to the Toshaos for the difficulties and harassment they faced as they journeyed to Georgetown for the conference resulting from Linden protest.
He warned of the dangers, if there is a breakdown of law and order in Guyana and cited Somalia as an example.
The Head of State denounced the violent protest being perpetuated in Linden by political elements which he says will not be tolerated.
He warned that Guyana will not return to being an undemocratic and unconstitutional country and called on all to reject such underdevelopment.
Ramotar meanwhile, said his government is prepared to put the community of Linden on the National grid since it would be unfair for residents in the community to enjoy subsidized electricity and other communities have to pay the full cost.
The opposition used their one seat majority in the assembly to shave $20.9B from the 2012 budget which he said is affecting a number of projects aimed at enhancing Amerindian development and national development as a whole.
He noted that the sincerity of the opposition will put to the test on Thursday, when legislators meet to restore the monies cut from the budget to the various agencies.
