He’s also been honored in Queens, New York, as a humanitarian and exceptional community leader.
But now 27-year-old US-based Guyanese, Marcus Bisram, has been implicated in the murder of 36-year-old carpenter Faiyaz Narinedatt, whose body was found at Number 70 Village, Corentyne, on November 1, last.
Bisram is said to have been born in Berbice, but migrated to the US as a boy. He is the founder of the Marcus Brian Bisram Foundation.
Last April, Bisram visited Number 70 Village, Corentyne, and pledged $200M annually to the needy at Berbice.
Bisram has stated that he has been making donations to Guyana for the past seven years, through various non-profit organizations.
His foundation has also pledged to build a home in Berbice for battered women and homeless children.
During a ceremony at the Marriott Hotel last April, Bisram donated $672,000 to five Guyanese students from Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.
According to a posting on Bisram’s website, the US-based Guyanese received a Citation of Honour from the Borough of Queens, New York. He was described in the citation as “an exceptional human being and community leader.”
Bisram’s website also has him posing with some high-ranking local politicians.
Calls yesterday to a number listed on Mr. Bisram’s website went unanswered.

Faiyaz Narinedatt’s battered body was found on the Number 70 Village, Corentyne on November1.
Initial reports had suggested that he was the victim of a hit-and-run accident.
But a few days ago, ranks from the Force’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) obtained a statement from an individual who claims that Narinedatt was beaten to death after rejecting the sexual advances of an overseas-based Guyanese.
They also have statements from two men who admitted to killing the carpenter and driving a vehicle over his body to stage a hit-and-run.
The suspects include two youths aged 17 and 18, and known as ‘Bruck Hand’ and ‘Cheese Mouth.’ The ages of the others range from 20 to 49. Some of the aliases were given as “Patchie’, ‘Lloydie’’Rado’ and ‘Zubir.’
The businessman who allegedly ordered the killing has reportedly returned overseas.
The case broke this week after ranks from the Force’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) took over the investigation.
The witness has reportedly told police that on the day of the murder, the overseas-based Guyanese had a party at his home and the victim, the eyewitness and a few other persons were present.
While the party was going on, the father of two went to the back of the yard to urinate, and the overseas-based Guyanese allegedly went behind him and allegedly started “feeling him up”.
Narinedatt allegedly responded by slapping and “chucking” the overseas-based Guyanese, who reportedly then ordered his friends to kill Narinedatt.
According to reports, the businessman told the men that he would ensure that they were not caught.
Several men reportedly then beat Narinedatt at the businessman’s premises. The victim was then taken to a roadway and beaten until he fell into a drain.
The men then took the seemingly unconscious carpenter by vehicle to Number 70 Village, Corentyne.
After dumping Narinedatt on the roadway, one of the men drove a vehicle over the carpenter.
The eyewitness’s statement is consistent with more than a dozen other reports that the family received from persons who called them anonymously.

-blame overseas businessman

After interrogation, police say two suspects yesterday confessed to murdering the carpenter who was found dead on the Number 70 Public Road just over two weeks ago.

Faiyaz Narinedatt,

Commander of ‘B’ Division Kevin Adonis, at a press conference yesterday, confirmed the alleged confessions in the murder of Faiyaz Narinedatt, of Lot 36, Number 70 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

However, a source close to the investigation further said that the two men, who are from the Upper Corentyne, have implicated an overseas-based businessman as being the mastermind behind the murder. It is unclear whether the police will now consider how the US-based businessman can be questioned in this matter.

The source related that the men in custody told members of the Guyana Police Force’s Major Crimes Unit that Narinedatt was beaten until he became unconscious, after which he was placed in the trunk of one of the attacker’s car and taken to the Number 70 Village public road. Once there, he was dumped out and run over by a car to make his death look like a hit and run.

According to information gathered, the overseas-based businessman and Narinedatt were at a party, when the businessman allegedly made sexual advances towards Narinedatt but was rebuffed. As a result, the businessman allegedly ordered his associates to kill the carpenter.

The businessman left the country later on the same day that Narinedatt’s body was discovered on the road.

It was Narinedatt family’s numerous calls for justice and their refusal to have ranks from ‘B’ Division investigate the matter which led to the intervention of the Major Crimes Unit from Georgetown.

The family had been told that at the party, Narinedatt was involved in an altercation with the businessman, after which the businessman ordered one of his bodyguards to take him away.

Relatives had said they were told that there was a scuffle between Narinedatt and the bodyguard and that several other associates of the businessman later joined in and allegedly dealt Narinedatt lashes with various objects. Family members said they learnt that Narinedatt fell into a nearby drain but was taken out by the alleged perpetrators, who continued to deal him blows. Afterward, Narinedatt, in an unconscious state, was taken to the Number 70 Public Road in the trunk of one the perpetrators’ car, the family was told.

A post-mortem examination that was conducted on the body of Narinedatt had revealed that he died from a fractured skull but had also sustained a fractured spine and other injuries.

Narinedatt was an only child and a father of two. His family is still trying to come to terms with his sudden demise. However, family members are hoping for closure since they now feel that justice is finally being served. Narinedatt was well known as a fun-loving person and a cricket enthusiast.

Beware of overseas bigman going to Guyana to perform charity work. When I spoke out the other day about the 15 year who one notable bigman on GNI called "his friend" I was lambasted by many of you.

US-based Guyanese Marcus Bisram

This man is gay as hell. If he is involved in the murder, let him face the music. Forget his charity givings. This does not give him the right to kill and run free.
Being gay is not a crime. However, he should keep it to himself.

Not true, it is inappropriate for a bigman to be "friends" with a 15 year old boy. It is not a socially acceptable relationship.  How many 15 year old friends do you have?

A lot of sexual predators use Guyana's needy situation to peddle their evil trade.  We must be suspicious of everyone, especially those who fraternize with the young, both male and female, under the guise of giving aid.

Valid observation.

It's kind of worrying to see when educated people on GNI are looking for excuse not to contribute to the improvement of Guyana. Attacking charities is the first sign. It's also worrying that all these people are Indians who back the PPP.

Cut the crap, the discussion here is about those who use charities as a cover to satiate their sexual desires.

Murder of Berbice carpenter… Mastermind’s mom, suspect’s sister offer detectives $4M bribe

November 20,2016 Source

A desperate attempt to thwart investigations into the brutal slaying of 26-year-old carpenter Faiyaz Narinedatt has been thwarted, with ranks from the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) detaining two women who offered them $4M to release their relatives.
The women in custody are the mother of the overseas-based man who allegedly ordered Narinedatt’s death, and the sister of one of the suspects, who is known as ‘Lloydie.’

This is clearly not the case with aid organizations as you suggest. The one off occasion you see in the suspect organization above does not make for an indictment of the dozens of organizations there doing honorable and much need aid functions.

The reality is Guyana is on the begging bowl presently and every sector of the society has legs held up by donor organizations with nations funding them.We have no record to speak of that these are populated by sexual predators. You are like the paranoid and folks I remember as a child who beat up a small pox and polio vaccination team because some idiot said they were sterilizing indians.

You are just being you usual nasty low life self in casting a slights on the gentleman who lamented the death of a child under the aid umbrella of his organization. You are truly a vile fellow for casting aspersions for no justifiable reason.

We already saw several examples of this over the years in Guyana. We must be suspicious of those engaging in man boy relationships.  I am surprised that you support this type of behavior rather than joining me in criticizing these predators.

There was no man/boy relationship. There was a clear mis-characterization of a statement that an organization helped him given he was destitute and in dire need of some intervention to lift him up. You are in a habit of doing this  to attack the person for your own personal twisted gratification.

The post was that a friend to  an organization died in an horrific accident and Tola lamented the life lost of someone he knew and obviously is ably to empathize directly. He even posted two articles on the case. You being a nasty and vile fellow could not help to twist those innocent words to your own twisted view.

Some of you need to stop with broad brush painting. Yola and so many others means well with their charitable work for Guyanese.

THIS Marcus guy inherited his money fRon a rich gay guy who he was living with. NYPD should now open an ivestigation as to how Marcus partner died.

Marcus is know to give Hugh sums of money to religious organizations both in NY and Guyana. Reports are that he also shared a close friendship with President Jagdeo.

People that are related to Marcus said the man used to spend money like sand and that he is super rich.

YUGI one of our schoolmates who belongs to #72 village and is now a a pandit here in NY told me that because of the amount of money Marcus give to the Mandir no one wants to speak out. My Pandit friend is of the opinion that Marcus should be prosecuted.

THE last I heard is that Marcus and his own mother were fighting over a property at # 70 village now yesterday h is mother was accused of bribing the police.

Hopefully Marcus will be brought to justice.

Associates mum — as police explore arrest of suspected mastermind in Corentyne carpenter’s murder.

November 21,2106 Source

SEVERAL associates of Marcus Brian Bisram, the suspected mastermind in the murder of Corentyne, Berbice carpenter Fiyaz Narinedatt, 26, have lapsed into silence, while others have distanced themselves from his charity foundation headquartered in New York. One member who requested anonymity told the Guyana Chronicle on Sunday that if Bisram is guilty, he should be held accountable for his action.
“I knew him before all this broke, he has a good heart; unfortunately
he made some wrong choices. He did help a lot of people, it’s sad that
these allegations are against him… innocent until proven guilty and if
he is, then he should face the penalty,” a member of his foundation said.

Another who knows Bisram, said the philanthropist has become power drunk and believes he could get away with anything.“I knew Bisram when he was a Home Health Aid. He was a good guy, butsince he got rich he changed, he is not the same person anymore. Hebelieves he can do anything, especially in Guyana and get away with it.However, if he has nothing to hide, he should return to Guyana and clear his name.”

A relative of Narinedatt, Nuwina Sultana, who resides in the U.S. has informed the authorities there and is optimistic that justice will prevail.Sultana said she has received death threats for speaking out on the matter while others choose to remain silent out of fear.“Since I have spoken out about the incident on social media, I have been receiving threats from people. I am fearful because they are very callous, but I won’t stop because if it means I have to speak out to get justice, I will,” she said, adding that “No family should have to go through this, there should be greater value to human life; as such, it should not attract a monetary value.”

Since the discovery of Narinedatt’s body on the Corentyne Public Road three weeks ago, his relatives were sure that he was murdered. The police in Berbice had said that the carpenter died as a result of a hit-and-run accident and when his family tried to show them evidence that showed otherwise, they were shut out.

‘WELL CONNECTED’

They have accused the police in Berbice, especially ranks at Springlands, of receiving a hefty “pay-off” from Bisram, who is said to be “well connected,” to “cover up” the matter.

Bisram is the chief executive officer of the Marcus Brian Bisram Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that provides funding to various religious organisations as well as individuals and companies that need financial assistance for education, health and funeral expenses, among others.
In April this year, a month after the launch of the organisation, the U.S.-based Guyanese had pledged $200M to Berbice to assist in various projects. On subsequent visits, Bisram through his organisation rehabilitated the Springlands Traffic Office and donated $2.5M to the Community Policing Group the day before the alleged murder.

REJECTED
On the night of the murder, Bisram was hosting an after party for the Community Policing Group and it is alleged that he made sexual advances to Narinedatt, who was present at the party, but was rejected.
Embittered by the rejection, Bisram allegedly instructed his bodyguards to “get rid” of Narinedatt and a scuffle reportedly ensued with Narinedatt and the men.The carpenter was reportedly viciously attacked by the bodyguards and several others joined in beating him to death, allegedly in the presence of all at the party.

The relatives of Narinedatt said though many were present at the party,
they did not intervene and were afraid to come forward due to Bisram’s known relationship with the police.Notwithstanding the brick wall put up by the police in Berbice, they persevered and managed to get the relevant authorities to get ranks from the Major Crimes Unit in Georgetown to take over the investigation.Soon after, seven persons were arrested with two allegedly confessing that Narinedatt was beaten to death.

The seven suspects in custody are a group of young friends, including two brothers and Bisram’s alleged body guards.  Many believe they idolise Bisram because of his enormous wealth.Following confessions from two of the suspects in custody, many have spoken out against Bisram directly, while others are of the view that he is being targeted because of his wealth.

ARREST
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum on Sunday told the Guyana Chronicle that efforts are being made to get Bisram to Guyana to be interrogated in connection with the murder of the young carpenter, whose body was reportedly dumped on the Number 70 Public Road on November 1.

He said investigations into the matter are still ongoing are charges are expected to be laid shortly as the police await legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

On Saturday, Bisram’s mother, along with the sister of one of the suspects was arrested after they allegedly attempted to give ranks of the Major Crime Unit a $4M bribe to scuttle the investigation.
