India and Pakistan exists because of the colonial powers. There were no such states. The argument for India claiming Kashmir is stronger than Pakistan. That the people should settle the question of with whom they would align or be and independent state is to be resolved.

India will not let it happen. It cannot let it happen for the reasons I stated. It is a significant portion of their water bank. Wars will be fought in the future all across the world from Europe (ie Ebro in North Spain vs Water shortage in southern Spain or the Nile ) and  Africa and China ( Tibet). The US has its internal water wars on going also.

I think it is difficult to expect trust or sympathy from people when so in our community is committing heinous crimes. I don't trust that Modi. I think he is planning to hand over the Muslim section of Indian Kashmir to Pakistan. He probably said let those Pakistanis deal with the situation. Then he is going to open up Hindu and Buddhist Kashmir to the rest of India there by creating a new front line with Pakistan and China.

Hari Singh, the hereditary leader of the region, wanted to remain independent. Pakistan invaded. He fled to India and hand over the state to India. India fought back to defend its new claims. Pakistan kept a portion after a cease fire.

They invaded again and started an ethnic cleansing. India invaded and almost destroyed Pakistan and retained the property. China has claims like any greedy neighbor wanting the place for its water. It is the reason the invaded and still hold Tibet. Maybe they should have gone with India. 

The region is a mess. India cannot give up the area. Its survival depends on holding on to it hence their hard line stance.  With it falling into the hands of Pakistan, over a 100 millions down stream will lose their water supply as it is diverted to Pakistan. India will never let Kashmir go.
