Lois Maxwell, who starred as Miss Moneypenny in 14 James Bond movies, has died, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported yesterday. She was 80.
The Canadian-born actress starred alongside Sean Connery in the first James Bond movie, "Dr. No," in 1962 as the secretary to M, the head of the secret service.
She died Saturday night at Fremantle Hospital near her home in Perth, Australia, the BBC cited a hospital official as saying. (B. Marshall, Getty Images / October 1, 2007)

007's Mrs. Moneypenny, Lois Maxwell dies
Lois Maxwell, born Lois Hooker died on September 29th, 2007. She was 80 years old.
Maxwell played Moneypenny in 14 James Bond films between 1962 and 1985. Born in Canada in 1927, Maxwell also played roles in Stanley Kubrik's Lolita in 1962 and on several TV shows including The Saint, The Baron, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and The Persuaders! Her last film was 2001's "The Fourth Angel"Â with Jeremy Irons.
She moved to Australia in 2002 after being diagnosed with cancer to be closer to her two children who survive her, her son Christian and her daughter Melinda.

Actress and comedian Brett Somers, Sept. 15
Actress and comedian Brett Somers, who amused game show fans with her quips on the "Match Game" in the 1970s, died on Sept. 15. She was 83. Somers died at her home in Westport, Conn., of stomach and colon cancer, her son, Adam Klugman, said. Somers married actor Jack Klugman, the star of TV shows "Quincy" and "The Odd Couple," in 1953. The two separated in 1974 but never divorced.

Ghostley, the Tony Award-winning actress best known on television for playing Esmeralda on "Bewitched" and Bernice on "Designing Women" died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007.
Ghostly died at her home in Studio City after a long battle with colon cancer and a series of strokes, said longtime friend Jim Pinkston. She was 81.
