Returning Officer (RO) for Region Four, Clairmont Mingo, was this afternoon threatened with contempt of court proceedings by Attorney-at-Law, Anil Nandlall on behalf of Reeaz Holladar.

The letter accuses Mingo of acting in violation of the ruling by Chief Justice Roxane George- Wiltshire in her Wednesday ruling, by refusing to ascertain the votes recorded in favour of the lists of candidates in accordance with the Statement of Polls (SOP).

The letter stated that Mingo instead chose to use a pre-prepared spreadsheet as the basis for ascertaining and adding up the said votes.

Nandlall also posited that none of the list of duly appointed candidates for electoral District Four outlined in the letter was allowed to witness the tabulation.

A GECOM official, Colin April, informed the press this morning that only one agent of each political party would be allowed to witness the tabulation.

Nandlall stated that the actions of Mingo as listed above constitute flagrant violation of the order of the Chief Justice.

Contempt of the court is a criminal offense punishable upon an individual, a fine not exceeding $250,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months. For a company or any other association, the fine would not exceed $750,000.

They don’t give a shyte. PNC are a law unto themselves!

Thank goodness they were forced to leave the building. Now the RO and CEO can sort this mess out and begin proceedings later tomorrow or better yet, tomorrow morning.

The US will instruct the security to secure GECOM and have the parties and international community complete the tabulation as per law and provide to Madam Singh to declare. 

The republic faces an existential threat. 

There will be NO military intervention . Sanctions and embargo will break the government. Back to the old Burnham days, Ban Dhal,cheeze,flour, oil, and so, then the people will revolt, What a Mess, can you imagine?

I betcha Pompeo will be briefed or has already been briefed on this.  Fire in them ass soon.  US has an interest in Guyana now, these are not the old days.  The US Ambassador will escalate this, a lot of folks going down soon.

@alena06 So you want the US to intervene in Guyana to help the PPP rig? GECOM will declare the results when they are ready.  

If only GECOM can be allowed to do its work. Once declared, any objectors can take it up in court. 

Unbelievable for PPP/C to hold a conference announcing the numbers for all regions, including Region 4.

Did the PPP ever defied he US ambassador in this way?  These people are determined to stay in power at all costs.  I believe you will see major bloodshed before this regime capitulates to the will of the Guyanese people.  They have the guns and they believe they can do whatever they please.  Sorry to this say but that is not going to save them in the long run. We are tired of tyranny and this part of the world are tired of it too. It will come to end eventually.

@Billy Ram BalgobinGuyana is a sovereign nation and GECOM is an independent body.  GECOM will declare the results when it is ready.  The PPP is being afforded extraordinary accommodation as they seek to disrupt a process that is now in the hands of GECOM.
