Why are some people surprised by the PPP's move.?

After all the alliance is a marriage of convenience.

Elizabeth Harper is a career diplomat. And she has considerable experience in Management.  As prime Minister, she will have to correlate the activities of the other Ministers.

She has the same last name as Burnham's wife.  Is that why you all are afraid of her?

I think we have to look at how the PPP governs. I don't believe Mrs Harper has a place in the Marxist-Leninist operation at Freedom House. I don't think she can craft foreign policy or anything of that nature. Guyana's foreign policy is largely driven by the motivation of obtaining funds from an Eastern Power which will never make the governance demands as Western Powers require. A strongman decides these things and the system of Democratic Centralism accepts in true group-think fashion. Mrs Harper obviously either does not know what she is getting into or she accepts her subservient role in Democratic Centralism.

The PPP is no longer a communist party. They are now social conservatives.

Harper is a member of the CIVIC component of the PPP.

I agree! It is a oligarchic cult that uses a communist management style known as Democratic Centralism.

This morning I spoke with some old-time PPP comrades in Essequibo on the phone. They say the PPP shot itself in the foot with Elisabeth Harper as PM candidate. They say the PPP has handed over Essequibo votes on a platter to APNU-AFC. "Dem boys gon win!" one comrade told me. I had to laugh, hearing a PPP woman calling APNU and AFC "dem boys."

Would you not go for a deal like that?

No I would not. She was doing fine where she was with no stain of these corruptocrats on her. Now she goes into the trenches with them and becomes them

Because she is a black woman and she is with the PPP, PNC thinks she is a stupid black woman.

Politically, she brings nothing. She has no record of motivating support for the PPP. How she plays out on the campaign trail is also untested and at this point is is not something one learns by doing. I agree, she is baggage. Even cussburd Anil would be a more sound choice or even Plumpy. This lady is an unknown quantity and by the time the voters know her it is elections time

Note, the PPP are playing with small margins.

Farouk said it best; the africans in the PPP are immediately labeled and tagged uncle toms because that is what they PPP use blacks for. Other than that they complain of blacks being quarrelsome, disruptive and unworthy of office.

The young will as usual ignore this lady because of her association with the PPP and rightly so.

Gilly Bhai, I use to hear my parents using it. From what understood then, it meant "being dead" like 'margile you mai ka ch...o'.
