This list sent chills down my spine. I knew five people on that list.

There are well over 100 people from the Guyanese community who lost their lives.  Most people have chosen to grieve privately at this time.

Dalip Singh (1941-2020)

Dalip Singh died in London, England at the age of 79, a victim of CV-19.  He worked in the Personnel Department of the Albion Sugar Estate, and at the age of 19 migrated to England. There he completed his GCE “O” Levels and “A” Levels, and later qualified as an Accountant. He worked for many years in the City of London before retiring. His daughter and only child Geeta predeceased him by 3 years.

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) --A 34-year-old mother of twin boys who worked the overnight shift at a Queens hospital is among those who have died from COVID-19 related complications in New York City.

Prea Nankieshore worked in the emergency department at Long Island Jewish Hospital Forest Hills helping to register patients.

Satash “Bala” Deonarine was born on June 30th, 1981 in Little Biaboo Mahaica Creek, Guyana. He has gone to rest on April 7, 2020, in East New York, Brooklyn NY.

He is the son of
Rajpaul “SonSon” Deonarine & Khematie “Kay” Deonarine.
He is the younger brother of
Rajmatie “Mala” Heeralall.
He is the fourth grandchild of Deonarine Balgobind and Bhagwandai Balgobind.
He is the fourth grandchild of Seebaran Mahabir and Hanraji Mahabir.

In total on both sides of Satash’s family, he has 38 first cousins.

Satash attended Little Biaboo Primary School, As a child, he was a quiet humble kid, a perfect son that any mother and father would want in a kid. As a young child, Satash was a hardworking kid even as a teenager in Guyana working alongside his mother father and sister helping his family earn a living in the field of agriculture.

At the age of 19, Satash and his family migrated on May 21, 2000, to the United States from Guyana, residing in East New York, Brooklyn, New York for the last 19 years.

On March 31st, 2008 he tied the knot with the love of his life, Menakshi “Usha” Deonarine. The lovely pair were inseparable, and have built a wonderful foundation of love for the last 12 years.
Together they have three kids:
Aryan Satash Deonarine age 10 January 19th, 2010
Arjay Davin Deonarine age 7 December 19th, 2012
Siara Rohini Deonarine age 8 Months August 15th, 2019
He was a wonderful Father to his children and they are his number one priorities over anything else.

Satash learned plumbing as a tradesman as his profession. He selflessly helped many of his friends to enter the field of work. He always extended a helping hand to family and friends. Satash’s place of employment was New York Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling in Richmond Hill, NY. There he has held the position of a Plumbing Mechanic. Satash was a great mentor, co-worker, and friend to those who have worked with.

Satash was a tall, handsome, passionate, and caring guy. He made his presence known in life because he was a gentle person with a kind heart.
He was a loving family man. His family came first and he has made an impact on many people globally.

To our beloved Satash,

You gave no one a last farewell and didn’t say goodbye. You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. A million times we miss you and a million times we cry. If love alone could have saved you, you would still be alive. Our family tree lost a branch that broke all of our hearts. In life we loved you dearly, In death, we love you still. In our hearts, you hold a place where no one can fill, but you didn’t go alone because part of us went with you the day God took you home. ❤️

"We lost a dedicated mother with a heart of gold," fiance Marcus Khan said. "We lost a sister. We lost a friend. I lost the love of my life."

Unable to hold back tears, Khan tried to put into words the pain of losing his fiancée, who died Sunday after losing a battle with the coronavirus.

Khan said she loved her colleagues and her job and insisted on being there even as concerns about the virus escalated.

"She said, 'I can't leave the hospital understaffed. They're already flooded with patients. Doctors are working hard, and I can't leave them like that. I have to do my part,'" he said.

Then last week, the young mother of 8-year-old twins became a patient at the very hospital where she'd previously celebrated special moments with colleagues. Days later, she was dead.

Co-workers paid tribute to her in chalk on the sidewalk, promising to remember her always.

"Our team at LIJ Forest Hills is a family that now mourns the loss of one of its own," the hospital said in a statement. "But as we grieve, we will also persevere in caring for our patients with the grace and strength that Prea displayed day in and day out."

Even as Khan and the rest of Nankieshore's family struggle to come to grips with her death, they have a message for others.

"I just want everyone to take this seriously," Khan said. "This pain, this pain that me and her family are feeling right now, you don't want your loved ones to feel this pain."

The number is much higher than 34. I know many more including a husband and wife who died one day apart from each other.

Sorry to talk off topic here. But I have a feeling that the surgical masks cannot protect a person if someone with covid 19 cough or sneeze in their face. Only the N95 mask or the N97 mask from 3M can protect you.

Watch out Prash, when some of us spoke out against the cloth masks being given out we were ridiculed by those who preferred to stay ignorant.

I saw many promoting cloth masks on TV as it’s washable. So everyone has an opinion however, given the fact that the virus enters through the nostrils or mouth, I don’t see why wearing a mask 😷 does not inhibit.

And yea we know 3M is best, but try finding it.

Finding it is difficult because of your boy trump. Now he's pretending he cares. He sells shyte to the people talking through his arse about taking bad medicine and wearing cloth masks. Should he come down with this virus I hope he takes his own advice.

I wear a cloth mask when I go out. My wife makes them and hands them out to the neighbors and anyone who wants one. She makes a double-layered mask.

Not true, they share tools, have delivery drivers coming around, no place close by to wash up...those in the industry have been complaining of this.

Before you talk, read the rules under which they are allowed to remain in operations. It’s not like they  carry on as pre-Covid. 

Lawn care and gardening services also exempted.  But there are rules they need to follow.
