Some of the foods I miss and wished I knew how to cook are all from Suriname.

I love making meatballs in red wine and tomato sauce. Okro soup, a favourite dish in parts of Africa, is another favourite. I like crab and lobster in it.

😂😂 No Cainstah, intro them grand piknee to mild curry. I do two pots. I cook everything without salt and pepper then when half cook, I take out a bit for my lildoll and let it cook with tiny bit salt in a lil pot.  I then add proper salt and some hot pepper to the big pot. Sometimes I put a little ketchup in the pot with curry for baby.

Do u eat mustard greens and kale? I have so much in the garden that I have to start throwing it out😔. Too bad u live 2 hrs away

Talk about smoking, before I started to get injections in one of my 👁 the doctor said I could use cannabis to help alleviate pain! Man, if I take Tylenol I am high, don’t know what would’ve happened. I am allergic to cig smoke and just smelling weed gives me headache 🤕

W

Apparently CBD which is used for pain (and doesn't give you the same wompyeyed feeling) is not good to use for those with eye problems. How come I had to get dem injections..hehe.   I haven't had one of those eye needles since moving North..haven't seen the dr neither...going on four years. One day all my parts gonna jus stay so an fall off....is laff I gon dead with laff, unless my mouth fall off too.

One of our lady friend who visit here one one time told me her hubby been taking those needles for bout ten years.

cain

Cainstahman, is it lucentis? I used to go to Don mills n Lawrence.  Did not go since March last year and may not go again. I used to have anxiety for days b4. All I thought about was 2 needles going in eye. So far eye seems ok with occasional pain

Tomorrow we chat pvte about dem eye needles

I enjoy tasty dishes. If it pleasing to my palate I take pleasure in every mouth full and never in a rush for the meal to finish. I am warned about my cravings. I figure, I would never say, well I wished I had eaten this or that. Pastries I love.

I always declare,"One day I am going to cook for myself."  A voice in another room could  be heard, "when yuh goan do it nah, please hurry up"

I really do not know if I could really cook anything. I promise to try. Ah! but time?

Almost 10yrs after we met, we got our second child....by then my not so young man was eating food that was 3-4 days in fridge. Just a bit over 15 yrs after we met we had our third child ( wow, I only just realized this) and by then my not so young man was eating anything from the fridge as long as it smell good. Thirty years later, he would say let’s cook  one day so that we have enough for almost all week🙁 He was the best ever .... not that he was perfect just that I am thankful for all that he was 💔

My sis made baiganee and phoulowrie, bhagee with green mango and mutton curry.

We had the best visit.

I was growing poi in ground for many yrs but from last yr I noticed that either slugs or earwigs are making sieves out of the leaves of poi, mustard and pak choy. Poi is now in an old laundry sink that we put some holes in😀

calaloo grows wild for May and June, in July the white flies comes so by then I usually haul out most or cut short. This yr was the best…maybe 40 lbs or more. I was cutting by the 5 gal bucket for friends and fam. I think the rain was what made it so abundant

I would mix some Dawn detergent in my water can and water the plants to control the earwigs and other insects. I use beer traps to kill the slugs. There are lots of videos on YouTube about how to control the slugs and other insects. I noticed some Japanese Beetles on my cucumber plants. I added some cooking oil to the Dawn mix and it seems to have done the job.

I tried the new Indian restaurant in town here, I had vegetable pakoras, a rice pilaf with curry, and got some chicken curry for the rest. Their curry got nuff nuff oil and it red, wasn't a bad scoff. I woulda much preferred Wildflower salfish stew (without the hegg) though.

When my wife was alive she use to cook either sheep brain or cow brain for me. Cannot remember which one it was. But the damn thing use to taste great with hot pepper and a roti.

On another note. Cain try shishkaboob bull balls with peppers and onions. That is great after a few beers. You will never think is bull balls you munching on.

Stopped over by Lin Garden today to get some food. Learnt that they will be moving in a year time. The plaza will be converted to condos.

No Cham, I don't eat egg. I used to love it but I once boiled a couple and had em in a sandwich, next day I went to fry a couple, the had brown spots in the yolks looked like pebbles, it didn't seem to be blood, I cracked a few more, same thing, I got grossed out and never ate egg since. Hey, I like marmite. I recently bought it at Walmart.
I knew someone who used to make ‘tea’ with marmite and add milk,  also a fav in soup, on buttered crackers or toast.

I just boiled my cassava n breadfruit, kneaded dough for dumplings……will go to no frills in a bit ( forgot to get plantains)

cainMan, I don’t care for karaila even though I am growing it. Will eat almost all veg.  Don’t eat beef. Will eat almost all wild animals, I know.. you don’t eat meat or eggs ( most likely those were gander eggs)  Don’t care for red sauce on pizza or sweet peppers due to upset stomach.

I bet none of you ever tried Puffball. I first saw it where I live, it's a huge mushroom almost the size of a soccer ball, if you were to burst it it would emit a puff of white dust. It has a steak like texture.

Mits, Marmite and IrnBru (Scottish drink) were seized and it caused some confusion for those who consume them. Othero foods from a Saskatchewan store were also seized for some strange reason but those foods are not banned here.
