TEN SONGS OF DILIP KUMAR THAT WERE CONSIDERED FAVOURITES OF MANY

http://sunheriyaadein.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/dilip_1.jpg

1. Ude jab jab zulfen teri (Naya Daur, 1957) : This was one of the biggest hits of the year and it grabbed 3 filmfare awards : Best Actor (Dilip Kumar), Best Music Director (O.P Nayyar) and Best Story (Akhtar Mirza). One of the most successful films of B.R Chopra, this movie was set in post-independence India where Industrialization is slowly creeps in and the impact it brings when the son of a rich landlord (Jeevan) begins operating a bus service in the town of Tangawallahs, who earn their livlihood transporting people from one place to another by Tangas(horse – carts).

2. Suhana safar aur yeh mausam haseen ( Madhumati, 1958) : Directed by Bimal Roy, this movie was one of the earliest movies that dealt with the concept of reincarnation. Though Dilip sahab didnt bag an award, the movie went on to win 8 filmfare awards – Best Movie, Best Actress (Vaijanthimala), Best Director (Bimal Roy), Best Music Director ( Salil Chowdhary), Best Supporting Actor (Jhonny Walker ), Best Art Direction (Sudhendu Roy), Best Payback Singer (Lata Mangeshkar) and Best Editing (Hrishikesh Mukherjee). This movie was a musical delight.

3. Do sitaron ka zameen par hai milan (Kohinoor, 1960) :  The Tragedy King and the Tragedy Queen of Bollywood come together in this light-hearted fairy-tale movie. They both look so good in this song and it really feels great to see both of them smiling throughout. Music by Naushad is very melodious and along with this,  Madhuban mein radhika nache re   was very popular. Dilip Kumar  went on to bag a filmfare ward for Best Actor once again for his role as Rajkumar Dhivendra Pratap Bahadur Chandrabhan.

4. Tu kahe agar (Andaz, 1949) : Three reigning stars of the era in the same movie caught in a love triangle!!! I dont remember the details, but had really enjoyed watching it. Dilip Sahab in a grey shade (wont say negative) – heroes those days were expected to sacrifice their love for their beloved’s happiness. But he pursues Nargis in this movie even after he learns that she’s engaged to Raj Kapoor.

In Andaz, Mukesh Chand Mathur, touched the stars when the songs Tu Kahe Agar Jeewan Bhar, Totayna dil Totayna, Jhoom Jhoom ki naacho aaj turns out to be very very popular.

5.  Nain lad jaye hain  (Ganga Jamuna, 1961) :  Produced by Dilip Kumar himself, the film stars real life brothers Dilip Kumar and Nasir Khan as two brothers on opposing sides of the law – where Dilip Kumar plays a leader of a dreaded band of killer bandits and Nasir Khan, a Police officer (story sounds familiar???).  The music of this film is by Naushad and the lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni. It’s a beautiful composition. All the songs (Dagabaz Tori Batiyan, Dhoondho Dhoondhore Sajna, Do Hanson Ka Joda, Insaf Ki Dagar Pe, Jhanan Ghoonghar Baje) from this movie are really nice and they were big hits too.

6. Insaaf ka mandir hai ye (Amar, 1954) : I have always loved this song. Though it’s not my usual romantic, fun-filled type, it’s a great composition, beautifully rendered and brilliantly portrayed.  I just came across a comment on youtube, a fact that never struck me as such but is really amazing :

β€œGiven the essentially Hindu ethos of the song, when you consider the fact that ALL the key people involved in the song (Writer – Shakeel Badayuni, Music Director – Naushad, and both the actors) were muslims, you have to bow your head to this demonstration of true secularism.”

7. Pyaar kiya toh darna kya (Mughal-E-Azam, 1960) : Though this movie doesnt need an  introduction, here are few facts (courtesy : wikipedia) :
It’s an Indian epic film produced and directed by K. Asif. With its lavish production, K. Asif’s magnum opus took nine years and Rs 10.5 million to finish. The film broke box office records in India when released and held the record for the highest grossing film ever until the 1975 film Sholay broke its record.

This was (counting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas) the most expensive film ever made in Indian history. Tailors were brought from Delhi to stitch the costumes, specialists from Surat-Khambayat were employed for the embroidery, Hyderabad goldsmiths made the jewellery, Kolhapur craftsmen designed the crowns, Rajasthan ironsmiths crafted the weapons, and the elaborate footwear was ordered from Agra. For the battle sequence, 2000 camels, 4000 horses and 8000 troops were used, many of them soldiers on loan from the Indian Army. Altogether the film cost Rs. 1.5 crores (38.29 crores in present terms).

10.  Imli ka boota (Saudagar, 1991) : One of his later successes, this movie brought back Dilip Kumar and Raj Kumar together after almost three decades (they last appeared together in Paigham in 1959).  It’s a very cute song and feels so good to see both of them so happy and cheerful singing β€œimli ka boota beri ka ped, imli khatti meethi ber” at this age. And their chemistry is rocking!!!

1) HUYE HAM JINKE LIYE BARBAAD

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7dWUwyffxE

Aseer-e-panjaa-e-ahad-e-shabaab kar ke mujhe

You are making me a captive in the grip of youth
Kahaan gaya mera bachapan, kharaab kar ke mujhe

Where has my childhood gone? I am despoiled

Haan...haan..haan....h...a..a...n

Huye ham jhinke liye barbaa

For whose sake, I have been ruined

Woh hamko chaahe karen na yaad

Even if she does not remember me
Jeevan bhar... jeevan bhar unki yaad mein

I will sing in her memory forever
Ham gaaye jaayenge,  gaaye jaayenge

I will go on singing, go on singing

(Ek zamaana tha woh pal bhar (ham se rahe naa door)2/2

There was a time when she would not stay a moment away from me
(Ek zamaana ye ke huye hai (milane se majboor)2/2

And now our meeting are restrained we do not even meet

Woh gham se laakh rahe aazaad

She may  grief for many a times
Sune na dard bhari fariyaad

Not hearing the painful lament of

Afsaana... afsaana unko pyaar ka

The Romance of our love

Do ha rahe jayengee, gayee jaayengee

I willl go on singing, I will go on singing

(Mein hoon aisa deep jis mein)2 (naa baati naa tell)2

I am like a lamp in which there is no wick there is no oil
(Bachapan beeta, bani muhobbat (chaar dinon kaa khel)2/2

Childhood pass by and love became like a short illusion

Rahe ye dil ka na kar abaad

May this heart's contentment flourish

Basi hai jis me kisi ki yaad

In which someone's memory dwells
Ham dil ko... ham dil ko, un ki yaad se

This heart with her memories
Bahelaaye jaayenge, gaaye jaayenge

Will go on and will continue singing

Huye ham jhinke liye barbaa

For whose sake, I have been ruined

Woh hamko chaahe karen na yaad

Even if she does not think of me
Jeevan bhar... jeevan bhar unki yaad mein

For the lifetime, for the lifetime in her memory
Ham gaaye jaayenge,  gaaye jaayenge

I will go on singing, go on singing

2) MERE KAHANI BHOOLNE WALE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SXn5NiYL78

(Meri Kahani Bhoolne Wale)2
My story is a forgotten one
Tera Jahan Aabaad Rahe
May your life be happy
Meri Kahani...
My story...

Mere Geet Sune Duniyane Magar,
my song has been heard by this world but
Mera Dard Koyi Na Jaan Saka, Na Jaan Saka,
My pains cannot be understood by anyone, not by anyone
Ek Tera Sahaara Tha Dil Ko, Ek Tera Sahaara Tha,
My heart look to you for support, your support
Tu Bhi Na Mujhay Pehechan Saka,
Even you could not recognise me
Bachpan Ke Woh Geet Puraane,
About Our childhood songs
Aaj Tujeh Na Yaad Rahe,
Today you do not even remember

Meri Kahani..
my story

Mein Apna Fasana Kehna Saka,
I could not recount my story
Mere Dil Ki Tamanna Dil Mein Rahi, Lo Aaj Kinare Par,
My desires were left in my heart unexpressed
Lo Aaj Kinare Par Aake, Armaanon Ki Kashti Doob Gayi,
Today after making landfall the ship of my dreams sank
Armaanon Ki Kashti Doob Gayi,
The ship of expectations have sunk
Kismat Ko Manzur Yahi Tha, Lab Pe Mere Fariyaad Rahe,
This was my destination, and I lament my lost love

Meri Kahani...
My story

(Meri Kahani Bhoolne Wale)2
My story is a forgotten one
Tera Jahan Aabaad Rahe
may your life be happy

Interesting to note:

It was the great voice of UstadAmir Khan who sang with Rafi Saheb in this song-not Bade Ghulam Ali Khan or Niyaj Khan! It was actress KumKum who danced with all inspiration from the great tune of Naushad Ali Saheb in one take during shooting! Naushad Saheb used several Indian(Hindustani)classical instruments in this song! DilipKumar learnt Sitar for this film's sake and acted naturally like a real sitar player, without any camera consciousness unlike most of the heroes!

An All Time Greatest classical song!

4) O DOOR KE MUSAAFIR HUMKO BHI SAATH LE LE RE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pD7HziV7204

Chale aaj tum jahaan se, huyee zindagee paraayee
You leave this world today, my life is not mine anymore
Tumhen mil gayaa tikaanaa, humein maut bhee na aayee
You found your niche, I didnt even find death

(O dhoor ke musaafir, hum ko bhi saath le le re
O traveller to a far place, take me along
Hum ko bhi saath le le, hum rahe gaye akele)2
Take me along I am left all alone

Thoone wo de diyaa gum, bemauth mar gaye hum
You gave me such a grief, I died without dying
Dil ut gayaa jahaan se, (le chal humein yahaan se)2
My heart wants none of this world, take me away from here
Kis kaam ki ye duniyaa jo zindagee se khele re
I want nothing of this world, the world that plays with your life
Hum ko bhi saath le le, hum rahe gaye akele
Take me along I am left all alone

Sooni hai dil ki raahein, khaamosh hain nigaahein
Deserted are the paths of my heart, vacant is my sight
Naakaam hasraton kaa (utane ko hai janaazaa)2
Now is the funeral of my unfulfilled dreams
Chaaron tharaf lage hain, barabaadiyon ke mele re
Devastation all around me
Hum ko bhi saath le le, hum rahe gaye akele
Take me along I am left all alone

(O dhoor ke musaafir, hum ko bhi saath le le re
O traveller to a far place, take me along
Hum ko bhi saath le le, hum rahe gaye akele)2
Take me along I am left all alone

6) AAJ KE RAAT MERE DIL KE SALAAMI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxIPfefIykM

Ye raat jaise dulhan, ban gayi chiraagon se
Tonight,as she becomes a bride under lights
Karunga ujaala main dil ke daagon se
My heartache will shine brighter still

Aaj ki raat mere, dil ki salaami le le, dil ki salaami le le
Tonight, my heart salutes you, my heart salutes you
Kal teri bazm se diwaana chala jaayega
Tomorrow this lover will leave your side
Shama rahe jaayegi, parwaana chala jaayega
This flame will remain, but the moth will be gone

Teri mehfil tere jalwe ho mubaarak tujhko
Your gathering, your lustre, suits you well
Teri ulfat se nahin aaj bhi inkaar mujhe
Today I will not deny you your pleasure
Tera maikhaana salaamat rahe eh jaan-e-wafa
Bless your beguiling ways, my lover
Muskuraakar tu zara dekh le ik baar mujhe
Favor me just once more with your smile
Phir tere pyaar ka mastaana chala jaayega
Then the one intoxicated with you will go

Kal teri bazm se diwaana chala jaayega
Tomorrow this lover will leave your side
Shama rahe jaayegi parwaana chala jaayega
This flame will remain, but the moth will be gone

Aaj ki raat mere, dil ki salaami le le, dil ki salaami le le
Tonight, my heart salutes you, my heart salutes you

Maine chaaha ki bata dun main haqeeqat apni
I wanted to tell you the truth about me,
Tune lekin na mera raaz-e-mohabbat samjha
But you did not see my secret love
Meri uljhan mere haalaat yaha tak pahonche
My troubles reached the point where
Teri aankhon ne mere pyaar ko nafrat samjha
you took my love for hate
Ab teri raah se begaana chala jaayega
Now this stranger will not be in your way
Kal teri bazm se diwaana chala jaayega
Tomorrow this lover will leave your side
Shama rahe jaayegi parwaana chala jaayega
This flame will remain, but the moth will be gone

Aaj ki raat mere, dil ki salaami le le, dil ki salaami le le
Tonight, my heart salutes you, my heart salutes you

Tu mera saath na de raah-e-mohabbat mein sanam
You did not walk the path of love with me
Chalte-chalte main kissi raah pe mud jaaunga
I will take a turn away from this path now
Kahkashaan chaand sitaare tere choomenge qadam
Rainbows, the moon and stars will kiss the ground you tread
Tere raste ki main ek dhool hun ud jaaunga
I am the dust in your path, I will blow away.
Saath mere mera afsaana chala jaayega
The tale of my love will go with me
Kal teri bazm se diwaana chala jaayega
Tomorrow this lover will leave your side
Shama rahe jaayegi parwaana chala jaayega
This flame will remain, but the moth will be gone

Aaj ki raat mere, dil ki salaami le le, dil ki salaami le le
Tonight, my heart salutes you, my heart salutes you

7) MERE JEEWAN SAATHI BICHAD GAYA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLIvMgVElFw

Khushi ke sath duniya mein, Hazaron gam bhi hote hain
Along with happiness in this world, there are a thousand sorrows
Jahan bajati hain shahanai, Vahan matam bhi hote nain
Where the shehnai (wedding flute) plays, there is also a dirge

(Mera jivan sathi bichhad gaya, lo khatam kahani ho gai
My life's mate has left me, the story is ended
Lo khatam kahani ho gai)2
the story has ended

(Qismat ne kiye vo dil pe sitam do chahane vale mil na sake)2
Fate dealt such a blow to our hearts, that two lovers could not meet
(Kahane ko bahar ai thi magar do phul khushi ke khil na sake)2
Spring arrived in name only, two flowers of happiness could not bloom
Aramanon ka gulashan bigad gaya barabad javani ho gai
The garden of desires has withered away, the youth lost

Lo khatam kahani ho gai
The story has ended

(Dil deke yahan sab har gaye duniya mein kisiki jit kahan)2
Having lost our hearts, we lost everything, who can win in this world?
(Hothon pe hain shikave qismat ke vo pyar bhare ab git kahan)2
Our lips lament our fate, where are those songs of love?
Jab khel hi dil ka bigad gaya har baat purani ho gai
When the game of the heart has been lost, all else is the same old story

Lo khatam kahani ho gai
The story has ended

(Mera jivan sathi bichhad gaya, lo khatam kahani ho gai
My life's mate has left me, the story is ended
Lo khatam kahani ho gai)2
The story has ended

9) AAJ PURANI RAHON SE KOI MUJHE AWAAZ NA DE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP6_kVK2Z10

Oo ho hoo oo ho hoo

(Aaj Purani Rahon Se Koi Mujhe Aawaz Na De)2
Today from the worn out paths, no one should call me,
(Dard Mein Dubey Geet Na De Gham Ka Sisakta Saz Na De)2
Or remind me of the songs full of sorrows and griefs

Oo ho hoo oo ho hoo

(Beete Dinon Ki Yaad Thi Jinmein Maein Woh Tarane Bhool Chuka
I have forgotten the old memories and the old melodies
Aaj Nai Manzil Hai Meri Kal Ke Thikaane Bhool Chuka
Today I have a new purpose I have forgotten the old destinations
Na Woh Dil Na Sanam Na Woh Deen Dharam
Neither the heart, the love, the faith or the religion,
Ab Door Hoon Sare Gunahon Se
Now I am far away from all my sins

(Aaj Purani Rahon Se Koi Mujhe Aawaz Na De)2
Today from the worn out paths, no one should call me,

Toot Chuke Sab Pyar Ke Bandhan Aaj Koi Zanjeer Nahin
All the bondages of love are broken there is no binding chains,
Sheesha-E-Dil Mein Armaano Ki Aaj Koi Tasveer Nahin
Of desires in this frail heart, today there is no portrait,
Ab Shaad Hoon Maein Aazad Hoon Maein
Now I am happy of being independent,
Kuch Kaam Nahin Hai Aahon Se
There is no use in sighs,

Aaj Purani Rahon Se Koi Mujhe Aawaz Na De
Today from the worn out paths, no one should call me,
Dard Mein Dubey Geet Na De Gham Ka Sisakta Saz Na De
Or remind me of the songs full of sorrows and griefs

Oo ho hoo oo ho hoo

Jeewan Badalaa, Duniyaan Badalee Man Ko Anokhaa Gyaan Milaa
It is a new life in a new world, my mind receives knowledge
Aaj Mujhe Apane Hee Dil Me, Ek Nayaa Insaan Milaa
Today I have found myself, I have peace of mind
Pahuchaa Hoo Wahaa, Naheen Door Jahaa
Finally, I have reached there
Bhagawaan Bhee Meree Nigaahon Se
I Can even see the almighty

(Aaj Purani Rahon Se Koi Mujhe Aawaz Na De)2
Today from the worn out paths, no one should call me,

10) TOOTE NA DIL TOOTE NA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPIAIhGH78Q

nigaahen bhi mila karti hai dil bhi dil se milta hai
eyes meet, the heart too meet the heart
magar ek chaahnewala badi mushkil se milta hai
but one who truly loves, is found with great difficulty

toote na dil toote na toote na
it may not break the heart may nor break
saath hamara chhote na chhote na
our friendship may not break, may not break
toote na dil toote na toote na
it may not break the heart may nor break

teri tamanna karta hu main
I will desire you
dil ka khazana bharta hu main
I will enrich my heart
raah akeli - 2 darta hu main
deserted road, I am afraid
koi lootera loote na dil toote na
let not some robber rob, the heart should not break

toote na dil toote na toote na
it may not break the heart may nor break
saath hamara chhote na chhote na
our friendship may not break, may not break

gam hain kahin tu saath na chhode
I am afraid, wish that you may not leave me
dil na dukhaye muh ko na modde
may not hurt me, may not turn away from me
aas dilakar aas na tode
after giving hope, may not take away hope
banke naseeba phoote na dil toote na
after good fortune may not be misfortune,

toote na dil toote na toote na
it may not break the heart may nor break
saath hamara chhote na chhote na
our friendship may not break, may not break

dil ko tere behla sakta hu
I can amuse your heart
chaand sitaaren la sakta hu
I can bring the moon and stars
ro sakta hu gaa sakta hu
I can cry, I can sing
mujhse agar tu roothe na dil toote na
if you may not turn away from me, the heart may not break

toote na dil toote na toote na
it may not break the heart may nor break
saath hamara chhote na chhote na
our friendship may not break, may not break
toote na dil toote na toote na
it may not break the heart may not break

1) SEENE MAIN SULAGTE HAI ARMAAN

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUmuVqC9NLY

Seene mein sulagte hain armaan
Desires kindle in the heart
Aankho mein udaasi chhaayi hai
Sorrow is entrenched in my eyes
Ye aaj teri duniya se hamein
Today from your world
Taqdeer kaha le aayi hai
Where has fate brought me

Seene mein sulagte hain armaan
Desires kindle in the heart

Kuchh aankh mein aansoo baaki hain
Some tears in the eyes are still left
Jo mere gham ke saathi hain - 2
The friends of my grief
Ab dil hain na dil ke armaan hain - 2
There is the heart but no desire of the heart
Bas main hu meri tanhaai hai
Just me and my lonliness

Seene mein sulagte hain armaan
Desires kindle in the heart

Na tujhse gila koyi hamko
I don't have to blame you
Na koyi shikaayat duniya se
No complaints to the world
Do chaar kadam jab manzil thi - 2
When the destination was four steps away
Qismat ne thhokar khaayi hai
Fate has pushed me

Seene mein sulagte hain armaan
Desires kindle in the heart

Kuchh aisi aag lagi man mein
Some type of fire has lit in my heart
Jeene bhi na de marne bhi na de ...
It won't let me live, it won't let me die
Chup hu to kaleja jalta hai - 2
If I am silent, my chest burns
Bolu to teri ruswaayi hai
If I talk, then it will be your disgrace

Seene mein sulagte hain armaan
Desires kindle in the heart

3) AFSANA MERA BAN GAYA AFSANA KISIKA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbEzeLNshZE

Milte hi aankhein dil huwa diwaana kisika
Afsaana mera ban gaya, afsaana kisika

My heart became obsessed once our eyes met
My story became somebody else's story as well

Poochho na mohabbat ka asar, haay na poochho haay na poochho
Dam bhara mein koyi ho gaya, parwaana kisika
Afsaana mera ban gaya, afsaana kisika
Milte hi aankhein dil huwa diwaana kisika

Don't ask about the effect of love, don't ask don't ask
In a heart beat, somebody became crazy about someone
My story became somebody else's story as well
My heart became obsessed once our eyes met

Hanste hi na aa jaaye kahi, aankho mein aansoo
Bharte hi chhalak jaaye na, paimaana kisika
Afsaana mera ban gaya, afsaana kisika
Milte hi aankhein dil huwa diwaana kisika

Hoping tears won't come to the eyes as I laugh
Hoping a glass of liquor/life won't spill while filling it
My story became somebody else's story as well

Milte hi aankhein dil huwa diwaana kisika
Afsaana mera ban gaya, afsaana kisika

My heart became obsessed once our eyes met
My story became somebody else's story as well

5) DIL DIYA DARD LIYA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MX-KmQjp0c

Dilarubaa, maine tere pyaar mein kyaa kyaa naa kiyaa
Sweetheart, What have I not done for your love

Dil diyaa dard liyaa, dil diyaa dard liyaa
I gave my heart to you and I took all the pain

Kabhee fulon mein gujaaree, kabhee kaaton mein jiyaa
Sometimes I spent my days among flowers and thorns

Dil diyaa dard liyaa, dil diyaa dard liyaa

I gave my heart to you and I got hurt

Zindagee aaj bhee hai, bekhudee aaj bhee hain
Life prevails here today, so does senselessness

Pyaar kahate hain jise, wo khushee aaj bhee hain
What we call love, that happiness prevails too

Maine dinaraat mohabbat kaa teree jaam piyaa
I have drunk the wine of your love night and day

Kyaa kahoo tere liye, maine aansoo bhee piye
What can I say, for you I have also cried

Kabhee khaamosh rahaa, kabhee shikawe bhee kiye
Sometimes I was quiet, other times I compained too

Kar liyaa shaak garebaan, kabhee daaman ko siyaa
Turned the collar into vegetable, sometimes sew the garment

Pyaar kee jaan hain too, dil kaa aramaan hain too
You are the life of love, you are my heart's desire

Kaun duniyaan se dare, jab nigahbaan hain too
Who is afraid of the world, when you are the protector

Apanee kashtee ko sahaare pe tere chhod diyaa
I left my boat in your charge

Dilarubaa, maine tere pyaar mein kyaa kyaa naa kiyaa
Sweetheart, What have I not done for your love

Dil diyaa dard liyaa, dil diyaa dard liyaa
I gave my heart to you and I took all the pain

Next we look at Dilip Kumar and his Relationships

1) Dilip Kumar and Kamini Kaushal

Dilip admited that he was attracted to this young girl beauty and she was his first love. However Kamini feelings was never truly determined by media. But many set members of their film Shaheed (1948) claimed that she was also madly in love with him and she can give anything to be with him. Kamini promised her dying sister that she will take care of her children by marrying her husband (named Sood) after her. She did so. She was married at that time so her affair wouldn't work. Her family got involved in this matter told both of them that they are doing wrong. They forced her to face her responsibilities instead of showing adultery. Mostly say Dilip took first step back from this relation to avoid the destruction of a family.
Kamini Kaushal hasn't any kids of her own.

2) Dilip Kumar and Madhubala

Well who don't know this love story.
Madhubala is a beauty icon in India and well known in world for her beauty. She was referred as one of world most beautiful ladies. She is compared Marilyn Monroe by US magazines and offered Hollywood movies. Madhubala was proposed by many other actors before Dilip Kumar but she rejected them.

Dilip has already done two movies with Madhubala but their romance started in 3rd film Tarana (1951). They were known the first most beautiful couple of Bollywood. One was the valentine lady and other was tragedy king. Madhubala was so in love with Dilip and want to spend her whole life with him.
But her wish was not accepted by God and most remembered love story ended.

Breakup Incident
Dilip and Madhubala signed a film Naya Daur (1957) but Madhubala's father didn't want her to work on the location chosen by film's director B.R Chopra. Her father demanded to change the location which director refused. So Madhubala's father ordered her daughter to leave the film. She was a obedient child and she did so. Dilip was not on anyone's side. But he asked director to do so for Madhubala. He said he can't change the location because it was film's demand. He said dilip that at-least he should support him otherwise he is in a big loss. Dilip then tried to convince Madhubala but then her father got angry to Dilip. She refused that she will not go against her father. Dilip then advice B.R Chopra if he don't want to ruin, then take law help. He was not worried for anything because Dilip was with him and he won the case against Madhubala. She was ordered to give back advance money, moreover her father image was ruined like a greedy man. It hurts her too much and then she told dilip that she is ready to marry him and will end her career, if he apologize to her father. Dilip refused by saying he is not worth it and couple broke-up. She did to get her father respect back but failed.

Later she was  married actor/singer Kishore Kumar in 1960. After marriage Madhubala mostly stayed in her bungalow because of Kishore's family problems. Their marriage suffered a lot of troubles and lasted 8 years till her death.

However after 3 years, nature made them to meet again in bollywood biggest hit Mughal-e-Azam (1960). This time they developed good terms for each other. She died from cancer in 1969.
Later, when madhubala's sister asked about Madhubala in her biography, she told that she was usually distressed after her breakup and she only loved one man till her death whom she desperately wants to marry and child, was Dilip Saab.

Some people in their blogs said Madhubala's other sister made rude comments for Dilip but it never confirmed.

MARRIAGES:

Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu

Saira Banu
is daughter of actress Naseem Banu and film producer Milan Ehsan-ul-haq. Dilip Kumar married the beauty queen Saira Banu in year 1966 when she was 22 and he was 44.
Saira Banu was wrongly portrayed with Rajendra Kumar and she also denied that affair many times. Naseem Banu wants Dilip to marry her daughter and he does because he respect her and also start liking her.

Saira Banu was a big fan of Dilip Kumar and she confessed that she had his love dreams right from the age of 12. In an interview, she stated that when she entered Bollywood her biggest dream was to marry Dilip Kumar and fortunately she made her dream came true.

Although media show reaction that a mature man married a child because Saira is 22 years younger than him. But if we see them today we think that sometimes age really doesn't matter if your love is healthy. She is so happy with him as he and she believes him as a gift of God. His second marriage didn't either effect their first marriage.
