@Django, one section don’t trust anyone, seems now not even Caricom!  Because they are in default.

When everyone says you are in the wrong, even your friends, just maybe you need some self reflection!

Are there any org in the world that are trustworthy to that section ?
Regarding my friends judgement ,none have said i am in the wrong.

Governments can change with every election in Guyana  and most business people we know try not to be extremely critical in public of any political party.  Because there could be consequences if the party they support, does not form the next government.

We are privilege to be part of a group of business men who plays games most weekends in Guyana and individually supports their own  political party.  In private among themselves, they share their disagreement about other political parties, but remain dead silent in public.

Only the foolish business person will publicly criticize  a political party and hope to remain in business for long, if that party forms the next government.

It should not be this way, but politics in Guyana is unlike any other country.

Why you shouldn't trust GECOM.
[5 min read]

Statements of polls are documents that tally up the number of voter ballots cast at a polling station. On election day, this tabulation process is done after the closing of the ballot boxes, which was done at approximately 6:00pm March 2nd 2020.

During the tabulation process, at least one GECOM representative, often the Presiding Officer, one party member of contending parties in a district, all participate critically and vigilantly in the tabulation of total voter ballots in favour of each party. They do so under the watchful eyes of observers, usually comprised of civil society and international organizations. This is to ensure the integrity of the final tabulation in favour of each party.

Once the tabulation is completed at the polling station, the results of that polling station are captured by a Statement of Poll. This SOP is then signed by the agents present representing GECOM and party officials. The SOP is then reproduced in print. One is pasted onto the outside wall of the polling station, and others distributed to party representatives.

GECOM then possesses the original copy of SOP that is sent to HQ, including the voter ballots of that polling station, escorted by security, party representatives, and other observer groups, at least this is what usually occurs.

The Returning Officer (RO) of a region relies on the SOP to expedite the delivery of results. He or she will initially trust the process which occurred at the polling station, only to recheck each SOP to tabulate final results for each party contesting his regional district.

The crucial job of the RO is to produce a final credible tabulation that is consistent with the SOPs in his possession and those in the possession of party representatives.

Keep in mind this: the figures on SOPs should not change but remain constant. They are effectively final declarations of results for each party at polling stations. And everyone in possession of a copy of it has the exact same figures, and ultimately, when in possession of all SOPs for any given district (R1, R2, R3, etc.) one may know the final results of that district.

Now, what are the facts of the 2020 election involving the final declaration of results?

1. The RO of region 4 refused to rely on SOPs in his possession, calling numbers that did not correspond with other party representatives. He often declared that the SOPs he had were *his* SOPs. But they are not "his" SOPs -- they are GECOM's, the same GECOM document parties possess as a copy, and the same GECOM document polling stations possess on their walls as a copy.

2. The RO of region 4 did not follow through the same process of ensuring the credibility of the numbers on SOPs as followed by other ROs representing other regions.

3. After the court orders were pronounced, higher GECOM officials promised to ensure their RO of region 4 complies with the law governing the transparent process. But they did not.

4. Both the Chair and the CEO did nothing to ensure Guyana's 2020 election was transparent and just, often going missing during crucial events.

5. The RO of region 4 made one declaration prior to the court orders with results starkly different from those on record for the opposition party, which relied on the same SOPs for their tabulation. To falsify an SOP copy is easy, by the way. It takes time and effort, which most people do not wish to invest.

6. The RO of region 4 made a second declaration after the court intervened, producing an inconsistent declaration compared to the first. This time the numbers appear to reflect disappearing valid votes, i.e. votes of electors. More striking are the numbers for the regional elections compared to the prior declaration of regional results.

7. Inconsistent numbers shouldn't appear because, as mentioned before, SOP values are constant and mirrored at the polling stations and party copies. They should always produce the same results unless discrepancies were discovered during the tabulation process in front of representatives. But it was the parties that discovered discrepancies between their copies compared to GECOM's. The RO refused to entertain ascertaining these.

If the RO felt there were discrepancies in his results he would've corrected them, ensuring that any future revision would amount to the same. But he did not. And, evidently, the amounts do not match from both declarations.

8. During the tabulation process at GECOM, the RO initially insisted on relying on a spreadsheet of fixed values -- a source document, not a method of tabulation -- that eventually got discarded after the court's intervention. However, only one party representative relied on a spreadsheet of values to correspond with the RO's spreadsheet, a representative of the APNU+AFC.

9. Think about it. If the APNU+AFC representative's spreadsheet has numbers that initially matched the spreadsheet values of the first declaration, then they should also match the second declaration without cause for alarm. But curiously, no objections were made by the APNU+AFC representative during the second tabulation process which produced starkly different numbers. All objections came from other political parties. How could it be that the APNU+AFC's spreadsheet seemingly corresponded with the RO's second tabulation of SOPs and final declaration despite obvious and massive differences?

10. Comparing the declared general and regional results, one would find that new parties have practically the same results for the general election on the regional election. Further, look at the number of rejected ballots and valid votes. These should've remained consistent between the two declarations if in fact the RO was proclaiming accurate and true results.

Why is the government throughout its leadership asking for the public to trust an institution that's obviously been compromised? This is justifying mischief without a cause for concern.

These are some of the reasons why people shouldn't trust the incumbent government and GECOM. These are reasons why people must protest to end this sort of deceitful political practice that seek to exploit democratic institutions and their legal systems. Look at the summary of declarations in the images. The evidence is clear. The RO walks free, safeguarded by the police while the democratic will remains undermined.

That can be said of the new breed of LOUD MOUTHS Businessman.

I can recall during the Burnham days , my older business friends will say we have to abide with the government of the day ,although the government is illegal.

Evidence points to direct involvement by APNU/AFC members in GECOM’s operations
March 17, 2020

Dear Editor,
The complicity of certain GECOM staffers and officials of the APNU/AFC coalition – this is what has been causing the delays in finalising the results of the 2020 Elections and fraudulent declarations of results for Region Four on March 6 and March 13.
Yet, at a press briefing held on Saturday, March 14, the Co-Chair of the APNU/AFC campaign, Mr Joseph Harmon sought to defend the coalition against allegations of electoral fraud.
He sought to distance the coalition from GECOM, stating that they respect the independence of GECOM and that no fingers have been pointed at the APNU/AFC coalition with regards to electoral fraud and interference with the independence of GECOM.
Mr Harmon is either living in a parallel universe or he is of the belief that we all were in another universe for the past two weeks.
There is enough evidence out there that points to direct involvement by members of the coalition in the operations of GECOM, especially at the Region Four headquarters.
First, maybe Mr Harmon can explain what the signature of Volda Lawrence, Chair of the PNC and a Minister of the coalition, was doing on the erroneous declaration of Region Four results.
In all of the other nine regions, only the signature of the Returning Officer was present, but for this region that was in dispute and that provided fraudulent figures, the signature of Volda Lawrence accompanied the stamp and signature of Returning Officer, Mr Clairmont Mingo.
Secondly, if that wasn’t enough to show direct involvement, Mr Mingo’s declaration form presented on March 13 was countersigned by Carol Joseph, yet another member of APNU and a candidate of the coalition in the 2020 Elections. It should be noted once again that no other region’s declaration included any other signature, but that of the Returning Officer.

Thirdly, to further dismantle Mr Harmon’s ridiculous assertion that the coalition respects the independence of GECOM, one only has to examine the behaviour of Roysdale Forde and Robin Hunte, attorneys who are candidates for the coalition.
The two individuals were openly assisting GECOM’s lawyer, Neil Boston, in the court cases held before Chief Justice (ag) Roxane George. As candidates for the coalition, this demonstrates clearly, the incestuous relationship between GECOM and the coalition.
Finally, it was also a member of the coalition, Karen Cummings, who used the office of GECOM to meet and threaten members of international election observer missions.
This even prompted one of the diplomats to enquire if she thought the GECOM building was an appropriate place to meet with them. This clearly shows that the coalition viewed GECOM as an appendage of the APNU/AFC.
No amount of spin by Mr Harmon and others can repair the damage. It is widely acknowledged that all the shenanigans that took place at GECOM were orchestrated by the APNU/AFC coalition. These are matters of fact.
Sincerely,
S Greaves

@@Skelly, yes we heard about that and it will be done by a private citizen.

What really does the PNC want other than being a bully and take over violently? Every organization bent backwards to accommodate them and yet, they play the damn stupid games.

What is going to happen is if the courts rule against them, they will appeal all the way to the CCJ. The inevitable is bound to happen. The world is watching.
