Amanat Ali thanks India

Amanat Ali of Pakistan says he knew he would not win the Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge. We ask him, is it because he is in India? Pat comes the answer: "I am the in top three only because of India."

Amanat received the highest number of international votes. And he is not disappointed at being judged second runner up. "Whenever I have performed, all the mentors have appreciated my singing and have said I am already a winner," adds the young singer.

Amaanat Ali and Group:

All set to conquer the world
"SMS voting is not allowed for people back home (in Pakistan). I spoke to the channel but they couldn't help in any way."

He says all the three final contestants -- he, the winner Aneek Dhar and first runner up Raja Hasan -- are winners because there was not a huge difference in the votes they received.

"Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has its own charm," continues Amanat. "Here, they don't give importance only to singing but (they) also groomed us in style and looks."

He says that thanks to the show's creative team, he has improved more in the last six months than in the last 20 years. He will go back to Pakistan on October 28 to renew his visa and embark on a world tour next month. He says he will definitely work in India.

Has he got offers back home in Pakistan?

"I have a few offers, but I have signed a two-year contract with Zee so everything has to go through Zee," he answers.

Amanat's mother, brothers and sisters had come from Pakistan to cheer him. While the singer is speaking to rediff.com, he gets a call from his father, who is in the US on work. Amanat's mother thanks everyone who voted for Amanat and also thanks Hindustan and the channel for giving them so much respect.

hi ASJ,

I am sorry, but I have to disagree about the comparison to Nusrat. Raja is very good, and is strong in many styles. His "Haaji Ali" was superb in its own way, but it takes a very special talent to catch Nusrat's style, and I think Raja does not quite make it.

Mussarat Abbas, on the other hand, is a very good candidate for the successor's job. My opinion.

And Venkat, I will agree with you that Raja is not fully there as yet and it will take some doing before he gets there as early on, when Raja Hasan was part of the deliciously tackily named Eklavya gharana (the gharana with no gurus) he was an unknown quantity. But he was called upon to fill a gap and his singing was nothing short of revelatory. Just as he emerged as a strong singer, Kalyanji showed up as a rather stern mahaguru (judge) and inexplicably sent him packing.

Thankfully Vishal-Shekhar used the wildcardashtra and restored him back to the show. And he went from strength to strength becoming as the House of Reshammiya put it "the most hyped singer of the show". Combining a huge voice with an innate ability to find and grab the emotion in the song, he delivered several fine and entertaining performances. He came across as simple, gracious, diplomatic, friendly and respectful. This helped him garner top votes in the early rounds

If he can continue with combination of voice with an ability to project the emotions like he did when he sang "Maa Tujhe Salaam" that evokes tears from listeners then the future looks bright for him.

Hey we know that Nusrat is Matchless, once in a lifetime comes such singer of calibre.

About Raja Hasan

At the age of seven, when the little kid called Raja Hasan Sagar gave his first singing performance, the the music pundits were stunned. It was a spell-bounding performance that left no doubt that this Raja Hasan would go on to make a name for himself.

Born in Bikaner, Rajasthan, singing was in his blood. Coming from a family, who were traditionally the royal singers of the Jodhpur state, singing came to him almost naturally. His gurus - father Rafiq Sagar and grandfather Allah Rakha Khan were his early mentors. As a kid he would copy his father's style of singing.

A product of Sardul School, Raja Hasan has three younger sisters. Raja Hasan Sagar left his studies in Bikaner, Rajasthan, to come to Mumbai eight years ago. He wasn't good in studies, and couldn't pass his Standard 12 examinations. He told his mother that he wanted to make a career in music. She supported Raja and told him that he should make it big".

In Mumbai, things were a struggle. Raja Hasan used to sing ghazals at a popular resort on the outskirts of Mumbai. He even tried his hand at music direction but it didn't work. He has even sung a ghazal for the movie Khosla Ka Ghosla. He shuttles between Mumbai and Bikaner as he performs bhajans and ghazals.

Raja has has also travelled widely - his stage shows in the Middle East were hugely popular.

The Saregamapa Story

It was an up and down path for Raja Hasan at Saregamapa. He wasn't selected into the final list. He however made it to the "stand by" list of singers known as the "Eklavya" gharana. In the Eklavya gharana, he sang Subah Subah from I see You, which pleased Vishal-Shekhar. His performance of "Meri Zindagi Ek Payaas" from Judaai moved Aditya Narayan, and soon there was a slight spotlight on his talent. He managed to get into the main draw. His Allah Ke Bande performance won him instant fans across the globe, and suddenly this man with curly hair and an innocent smile was hot property.

But things still weren't going his way. He again was eliminated by judge Anandji, who felt Amanat Ali's performance was superior that day. Raja's accepted the decision smiling, and that moved many people. In the first public voting of the season, where eliminated singers could be voted back into the show, Raja struck gold. He got almost one-third of the votes and was brought back into the main draw.

For the next three weeks, his performances mesmerised people - he continued topping the public voting list.

'Music was always in my blood' - Raja Hasan Sagar

Raja Hasan Sagar, one of the finalists of SaReGaMaPa does not need any introduction anymore. He has won all hearts with his soulful singing, and here is he talking about his journey thro' SRGMP.
Raja's journey to the finals of SRGMP has been a topsy-turvy one. Even though he got selected for the show, he did not get selected in any Gharana and so became a part of the "Eklavya Gharana". Later Vishal Shekhar selected him for their Gharana, but his brilliant performance on the song Allah Ke Bande could not save him from going into Chakravyuh. And with him that week was none other than Amanat, who in the Chakravyuh round gave a tough competition and got selected. Raja was again eliminated from the contest. Then it was the Brahmastra Round and Vishal Shekhar, while choosing contestants made sure to get Raja back into the contest. After that, he never looked back. What does he say about this? "Frankly, I never thought that I'll reach the finals. But somewhere down the lane, had a faith too that maybe all the blessings that I got from my elders, my parents would not go waste. I had lot of faith on Allah too."

Raja got his singing training mainly from his Maternal Grandfather. His father, Rafiq Sagar is himself a ghazal singer and also a music director. Even he had a big role to play in grooming Raja as a singer. "Music was always in my blood",that's what Raja says. And how much has SaReGaMaPa helped him grow as a singer? "There has been lot of change when I see myself singing now. Here we are not just learning to sing songs on the stage for the show, but also from all these mentors, SRGMP Guru's and our Music Directors Mukeshji and Sanjayji. Thy have all guided us a lot. They all taught us many finer details of singing, more importantly playback singing and its ways of presentation."

'Music was always in my blood' - Raja Hasan Sagar

Now Raja is a star and even he knows that. Lot has changed in his life now. "There is a big difference in life now. There's a saying - As long as you had not bought me, none knew about me and now you made me priceless. Same has happened with us now. As long as we were not in SRGMP, none knew us on the road. But now, it is difficult to walk down the streets." And he thanks Zee TV and SaReGaMaPa producers for making this dream of his come true.
Because of his friendly nature, he is on friendly terms with all the contestants. But he is more close to Aneek. What does he have to say about his other two finalists and how much chance do they have of winning? "It could be any of them. Amanat is a brilliant singer, so is bound to have a big fan following. Aneek, besides being a good singer has many other plus points. He is very innocent and pure at heart. These things also matters a lot to win fan following. I think any of these two can win this contest." And what about him and to this query, he just laughs it off.

Even though he has reached the finals, and is just one step away from getting the crown, this boy from Bikaner stays humble and rooted to the ground. He is not even eyeing the coveted prize, and has just one message for his fans, "I would like to thank them all to have made me reach this pinnacle. I win or not does not matter. I just have a request that you all pray I sing well and go on doing so ever, so that I can stay in your heart always."

Born in Bikaner, this soulful singer did not achieve this success overnight, and had to cross many milestones and yet the smile on his face never fades. His fan base is truly intact, and with the finals being just one week away, his fans are giving their best to make him the winner. This contestant who is already a star has a long way to go in the music industry, and sure that he will make a stand of his own. We all wish him luck for the finals and for his bright future!!

As we know the story of the finals; we can only look foward to bigger things from Raja:
