Christopher Jones have done nothing illegal ,how can one be charged for simple larceny for stealing something from yourself . The government made Jones more popular ,he was wrongfully arrested.

The Government started on wrong footing ,someone power drunk or on the cusp of insanity.

Bai KP we are all Guyanese brothers and sisters. We need to step back and analyze this incident. I am sure that there is another side to it but the current facts are as follows:

1 The police showed up without a search warrant.

2. Jones exercised his constitutional right to ask for a warrant.

3. Jones claims that he received these items through a grant.

4. Arresting him without a warrant seems excessive.

5. Apparently a stay order was rejected by the police.

6. Is this way forward for our country ?

7. His children were traumatized.

I am not making this a political incident but I want to see justice for all of my Guyanese brothers and sisters.

Let's see the AG and head of police now present their side of this matter. We can then hear both sides of this matter and draw our conclusions.

Remember the incident with Nandalall and the Law Books, Well the shoe is on the other foot.  These political appointee are at the moment sabotaging the government, they are refusing to leave office and not wanting to return State Assets.  The authorities must act swiftly, without prior notice, so to catch them in the act.

I do have a few concerns:

"Audit documents revealed that approval was not granted from the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) for the procurement of a Condensing Unit valuing $1.528 million. However, audit checks revealed that the item was still purchased and supplied. Additionally, further, audit checks revealed that the cheque was paid to the supplier on October 2, 2019, but the time of reporting in August 2020, items to the value of $900,999 were not supplied."

"Meanwhile, the audit report stated that a physical inspection of the assets purchased revealed that items valuing $4.084 million were still not put into use, since these items were stored in a room at the residence of the beneficiary, Christopher Jones. Further, the audit report stated that details of a letter from the Permanent Secretary of the Social Protection Ministry dated May 22, 2019, states that the items were to be procured for the beneficiary who “operates” a barbershop. However, at the time of the physical verification, it was discovered that the beneficiary does not operate a barbershop, since the construction of the said barbershop has not yet commenced."

I am no expert but there are some serious unanswered questions. Let's await the other side of this matter. One can then assume that these are still state properties ?

If they are, why are this still at a private residence ?

Jagdeo did backdated the gift of the law books to Nanda Baba.

Those law books came in handy to deal with AFC PNC criminals trying to steal an election. 

Chistopher Jones , have the documents and explained how the application was processed and supply of the merchandise.

Who ever instructed the police is answerable ,the two Indian policemen has exacerbated the issue further ,one threatened to hit Mrs.Jones .

Why $4.9 Million in equipment?

I am awaiting on an official government statement and one from the police before drawing any conclusions based on additional facts presented. I am not taking sides on this one. 

There is always his story, the government's story and the police stories. Old people say that every story has three sides.

Valid question and this was acquired and paid for without NPTAB's approval.

It's modern barber shop with about 12 chairs .Guyana prices are totally different from other parts of the world.

Most of the Barber shops here don't have more than 4 chairs.

The other side dug a hole for themselves ,nothing looks shady from what's presented.

One of them in my old neighbourhood was $ 5 plus tips.

My wife visited Guyana just before covid and she brought back a fresh bottle for me. The Guyanese customs started laughing when they saw coconut oil 

My wife pulled out one of my picture and showed it to them, not one grey hair. They stopped laughing and started asking questions about the benefits of coconut oil. 

The COP will make no apologies.  All the rioters will be charged with unlawful behavior and disturbing the peace. Jones is not going to get away with unlawful possession of state property. You do the crime you do the time.

Hopefully this matter goes to court so it can be tried legally instead of by political hacks.

In Guyana, you don't charge the Policemen for excessive action. The Black clothes Police did that all the time.
