* Your gloom and deep pessimism stem from the fact that the PPP is in power.

* If your beloved PNC/AFC were in power you'd be singing a different tune.

* The Rev sees the Marriott project as a plus for Guyana.

* The Mariott sponsors and investors are what I deem DOERS---they take risks and make things happen. Critics of the Marriott are TALKERS---many are PPP HATERS and are full of hot air.

Rev, words like gloom, pessimism and haters are emotionally charged.

For me, they play no part in analysis.

Facts, figures, empirical evidence --- these are the tools I work with.

Howl high and howl low, put aside your emotions and overt race bigotry and look at the facts I presented above.

Based on them, it's clear your corrupt PPP is selling out Guyana for a song.

You can't acknowledge that reality? Your problem.

Gilly:

* When the PPP built Providence stadium with financing from India, many in the opposition were hugely critical of the project.

* The Providence stadium has turned out to be a positive for Guyana and Guyanese.

* The critics and prophets of doom are now targeting the Marriott.

* Let me remind you of this piece of wisdom from the great Albert Einstein:

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." Einstein

* The DOERS making the Marriott happen are men and women of great spirits; the TALKERS condemning the project ---well they are just TALKERS.

Thank you so much for the reminder, Rev.

It is, however, an inappropriate and inept reminder.

Do you really believe Albert Einstein had the likes of Bharrat Jagdeo and Winston Brassington in mind when he used the words "Great spirits"?

*

Can you tell me how Providence stadium has benefitted Guyana.  Note that it is financed by a loan and the lenders will only accept payment in US dollars. So itemize how Providence generates foreign exchange.  Cricket is rarely played there these days.

Also if the Marriot is so lucrative why wasn't it financed on the same basis as that new Indian own hotel will be?  They aren't asking the taxpayers for any equity, or loan guarantees, or guarantees if the project fails.  They are taking 100% risk, which is what I expect an investor to do if he has confidence in his project.

What is obvious is that the investors in Marriott LACK CONFIDENCE, and need to be enticed to invest by the PPP to save themselves the embarrassment of the project failing.

You expect a lot from a PPP thug. All he knows is "ahbe pan tap...collie time now....black man time done".  Aside from that he doesn't care one bit about Guyana.

Facts, figures, empirical evidence.   When ever these are in evidence Guyana always looks backward compared to its Caribbean peers.  So why will the PPP believe in it?

Boy, I have to give it to you here again: you have the makings of a great conman. A reincarnation of our own Guyanese, His Eminence DOCTOR CRIME.

But, judging from the little I knew of him, Doctor Crime had more scruples than you. And, he wasn't racial. At one time he chose to live in the Afro-dominated Tiger Bay where he was highly regarded.

The way you get on in this Forum, it is reasonable to assume that you've chosen to live far from those types whom you call Cuffy.

Back to the essence of your thread. The PPP can build 10 Marriots but when they have vocal racial propagandists like you, I can assure you that no Black or Cuffy tourist will patronize those hotels.

There are many venues for sporting activities, and surely a less costly stadium, financed LOCALLY, would have been more appropriate.

It doesn't bother you that the PPP squanders millions on failed projects and yet cant even pay decent salaries and so the best Guyanese educational and healthcare professionals flee to Barbados and Antigua. Indeed BOTH islands have so many Guyanese that their healthcare systems would collapse if Guyanese ever left.

Indeed to show what confidence the PPP has in healthcare in Guyana that Jagdeo gets diarrhea and gets flown to Miami!

The fcat that the US govt wastes and squanders isn't the issue as Guyanese don't suffer as a result.  In any case the US govt only needs to print more US dollars when they want more cash as there will always be Chinese, Arabs and Russians lining up to buy.

Guyana needs to FIND US dollars to pay off loans, so if Provident and Skeldon don't generate these dollars then they must be taken from the gold miners, or rice farmers.

On another thread that is active now I wrote my opinions of the Burnham era.  You can read that and then continue to pretend that I support Burnham, but then you will merely reveal yourself to be the fraud that we all know that you are.

CHECK THIS CARIB:

* Guyana's external debt is around 1.97 billion(US).

* Guyana's external debt as a percentage of GDP is 70.8%---Canada has an external debt as a % of GDP of 74.1%

* In 2012 Guyana's interest payment on it's external debt was $21,681,000----that is miniscule.

If Guyana is so rich then why don't the pay the rice and sugar farmers on time?  Instead many now risk bankruptcy and had to RIOT to make their problems known.

Guyana remains the poorest country in CARICOM aside from Haiti.  What ever metric you use to show socio economic rankings Guyana is BELOW Barbados...a tiny piece of coral poking out of the Atlantic.  Guyanese are among the most impoverished, which is why the crowd islands like Barbados.  So rather than wasting $ the PPP should stop building white elephants.

I don't think that Canada is going to have any difficulties servicing its debt.  I do know that many of these CARICOM nations raised debt in PRIVATE markets.  Guyana is limited to loans from development agencies and foreign aid donors.  Guyana lives off "pity money...you know soft loan here, soft loan there".  Others had to raise cash at market rates.

Why do you not do an analysis of what constitute Guyana's GDP before you open your yap.  Get it into your head; guyana has never produced sufficient to meet its needs in its entire existence. Borrowing from the Chinese also comes with different perils.

HERE'S THE COMPOSITION OF GUYANA'S GDP

OVERALL GDP = 2.85 billion(US)

Agriculture + Value added = 611.7 million or 21.5%

Industry + value added = 967.4 million or 33.9%

No wonder a mere banquet hall has you in ecstasy.   I bet you even on Nevis, which is equivalent in size and maybe population to Leguan, wouldn't make a deal about a banquet hall.  But apparently nothing is happening in Linden so it becomes a major earth shattering event.
