Clint Eastwood's "empty chair" ridicule at last week's RNC has already damaged the President's pop culture image significantly. Now, the majestic narcissism of the Greek columns at the 2008 DNC is contrasted with the unstable "house built upon sand" imagery this weekend's storm left upon the 2012 DNC's Obama sand castle.

The President's popular image appears to be fading as fast as that four year old "Hope and Change" poster in the bedroom of the college graduate back at home after being unable to find a job. 

In a world where political fortunes rise and fall based upon pop culture imagery, the Obama campaign's hubris in creating this failed attempt to treat President Obama like the other American icons on Mount Rushmore may lose him a few more electoral college votes in November.

It will be a tough 66 days and Obama is still very formidable.  Getting the swing vote to Romney is key and we will not know for a few weeks.  If the economy continued to tank, Obama would be an "endangered specie".

I hope Romney pulls it off as Obama will continue his divisive rule well into his 2nd term.  Romney will apply a strong dose of pragmatic capitalism, targeted reduction of Corporate and CG taxes and stimulate investment.  There is a lot of capital on the sidelines and Obama's social engineering will not mobilize it.

The debate will do the trick and give Romney the winning edge. Right now the DNC is forthcoming and the independent voters will weigh in on both sides.

In 2008, Obama received 52% of the independents; McCain 44%---Obama won independents by 8 points.

In 2012 polls reveal Romney is leading Obama by double digits among Independents.

CONCLUSION:

How is Obama divisive.  This the same man who grovelled to the REpublicans as recently as Dec 2010. 

How is Romney inclusive?  Are you claiming that a party which is actively tryoing to win by playing the race card is inclusive.  This after coming to the conclusion that it cant win minority votes, so should pander to the insecurities of uneducated whites.

Obama needs at least 40% of the white vote to win, in other words at least 60% of those who vote for him must be white or he loses.

Romney is trying to ensure that he gets 60% of the white vote, or he loses because he is getting less than 20% of the minority votes (blacks, hispanics, asians taken together).

We see similar dichotomies when we factor gender and age.  Clearly Obama attracts the more diverse crowd,

Todays Gallup poll shows Obama 47% Romney 46%.  Gallup is independent and so more reliable than the Fox News/MSNBC polls which should be cited only for hilarity.

Rev with the economy clearly weak, and with Obama's base the most hurt by the recession how come Gallup isnt showing the results that you claim?

You are clearly showing a Fox News poll.  If they poll only the trailer parks the results will not be accurate.

It is clear that Romney is weak and Americans dont like him, so despite the disappointing economy he is not polling well.

The race is 50:50 and Romney is  a dunce so needs to practise his debate while Ryan runs around screaming, showing America who the real boss will be.  Expect women and seniors to flee once they learn about what he plans to do to them.

The Rev agrees with you that the gallup poll is extremely reputable, but keep this in mind, summer polls by gallup survey registered voters--which tends to include more democrats---than actually show up to vote on election day.

When gallup switches over to likely voters you'll get a better guage of what the November results will be---there is usually a 3 point difference between the registered voters poll and likely voters.

Where is it said that Gallop is not polling likely voters? At this point only opinion and likability etc polls randomly from the general population.

Also, the undecided are very low in the battleground states with Independents around 10 percent. That is where it matters. Ohio seems to be trending back to the President and there is a likelihood given the work on the ground,  North Carolina could break for the presidency. If Obama wins NC Romney has no path to victory. I all comes down to about 6 states and it will take a miracle for Romney to win if obama votes turn out. Obama's problem is turn out since old white men ( romney's hard base) vote
