everybody knew she was tipped for that post even before the elections
the Ministry used to handle more than Tourism. Now it is only tourism.
Did they also tip you off that a Ministry of Business would also be created to handle part of what the Minister who had responsibility for Tourism & Industry used to do? Guess which faction this person comes from? . . .
okay . . . so what exactly is your point again?
Already made my point but you as usual were too busy arguing to bother with it.
There are factions within the AFC, as there are within the PNC. Obviously the Trotman/Hughes faction won out, even as they weren't that visible in the campaign.
Now whether Ramjattan is in the Trotman/Hughes faction, as an original AFC founder, or is in the Nagamootoo faction, as a fellow PPP refugee, is something that you can debate about. I will not.
But if you don't see that AFC consists of two groups which never meet (Gtown black/mixed elites, and rural Indo Berbicians) then I cannot help you.
dude, Kathy Hughes getting the Tourism ministry has nothing to do with "factions" . . . that is like saying that Moses (PM) and Khemraj (Nat'l Security) was the result of AFC factionalism
ease up on the stupid juice
Even you will admit that getting a portfolio for National Security (formerly Home Affairs) on a stand alone basis is much more justifiable than a stand along Ministry of Tourism. Lucky Cathy didn't weave baskets as we would have a Ministry of Handicraft.

so, is Kathy Hughes' appointment a power play by the AFC Afros or a sop (Ministry with little clout) to them by Granger?
i'm simply not following u

Think what ever you wish. As if now we have no ministry for external trade, this being subordinated within the ministry of foreign affairs. We see numerous junior ministries in all sorts of exotic ministries, yet none within foreign affairs with a specific responsibility for exports.
Yet we have a stand along ministry of tourism. This when not more than 10k visitors to Guyana aren't there as overseas nationals, on business trips or Caribbean people there to watch cricket or to visit their Guyanese friends.
Tourism in Guyana doesn't deserve more than being either part of a larger portfolio, or as the responsibility of a junior minister embedded within some other ministry. Cathy isn't a junior minister.
But its all good. The various folks, Cathy, Amna, Felix, and numerous others need to get their rewards for their struggles whilst in the opposition. So we might get as many as 30 cabinet members, because the AFC is still at only 30% of the 26 cabinet members.
BTW Harmon does seem to be doing what we thought that Nagamootoo would be doing, based on the agreement.

look Captain Obvious, i agree with all that, and have addressed this issue elsewhere on GNI
again, what's this got to do with AFC "factionalism"?

Chat with HM_Redux when he was screaming at how selfish the black AFCites were. This before the APNU AFC collaboration. They didn't come from no where.
Since when do bougie black and red people from G/town know or care anything about Corentyne Indians?

I would think that this election should have shown you that tribalism is alive and kicking and tribalism was as much a feature of this election than it was in 2011.
If you doubt look at Region 6 where Moses spent loads of time yet LOST Indian votes, even as the PPP added 7100 more to their 2011 numbers. You think that Berbicians were more impressed with the PPP in 2015 than they were in 2011.
Guyana remains as tribal a country as it was in 1992 and any coalition supporter who ignores this fact fools themselves.

Captain Obvious, no one's disagreeing with u on the above
what battle are you fighting?

Yet its so obvious and seemingly you seem so sure that it hasnt permeated the very core of the political structure.
Tell you what Cathy will sooner deal with Granger than with Ramjattan and you are a fool if you think otherwise. Both upper middle class G/town black people. Now she will also sooner deal with Gerhard, but I don't think he is in the Moses faction either.

your stream of consciousness meanderings are mildly amusing, especially given that u seem assured that there is some adversary u are actually tilting against
