I think the AFC needs to put Moses as the Presidential ticket because he's got the canefield creds.
He's their only electoral ace. Now I personally think Nigel Hughes is an overall better pick, it would be a disaster electorally. And at this point, the main thrust should be the removal of the PPP from power.
Only Moses could possibly move 10pc of the national vote which is probably 20% of the total Indian (PPP) vote

Bhai, So quickly you forgot what happened to Moses when he was nominated for Speaker. The Youth Arm of KFC not on their Watch. They stated clearly that he CANNOT be TRUSTED.

Well if the KFC wishes to compete with the WPA, then by all means they could exclude Moses.

The PPP needs to lose 10pc of the national vote in order to lose the Presidency? How would this be possible?
Jokes:
The PPP needs to lose less than 10%---it's more like 6.4%
Let's look at the results in the last election:
PPP...48.6%
PNC...40.8%
AFC...10.3%
Now, if the AFC under Moses can get 15%---that's 4.7% more than in 2011, and let's assume that they pull all of that 4.7% from the PPP, then you'll have:
PPP...43.9%
PNC...40.8%
AFC...15.0%
So the PPP will still control the executive branch.
For the PNC to control the executive branch they will need to increase their % by 1.7%--- from 40.8% to 42.5%---and they will have to pull that 1.7% away from the PPP.
That brings us to:
PPP...42.2%
PNC...42.5% = PNC win
AFC...15.0%
CONCLUSION:
* Assuming the same turnout
* If the AFC gets 15% of the vote
* If the PNC gets an additional 1.7%
THEN THE PNC WILL FORM THE NEXT GOVERNMENT!
A vote for Moses and the AFC is a vote for the PNC to form the next government.

The numbers I presented above reveal there is a distinct chance Moses and the AFC can help the PNC win the presidency.
If that's what the folks in Guyana want, then that's what it will be.
By the way, joker is right about one thing---if Moses is the AFC's presidential candidate----the PPP can be defeated---if Hughes is the AFC's presidential candidate---the PPP will remain in power---Moses can pull 15+%; Hughes less than 10%.
Anyway, like I stated, regardless of who controls the executive branch, Guyana will be moving forward.

A Moses-Nigel ticket can win a plurality. It is now a possibility. Many feel betrayed by Ramotar-Jagdeo. Many are dissatisfied with APNU. The ball is in AFC's court. It is for them to now seize the moment. Jagdeo is the best gift to the opposition.

You are engaging in wishful thinking!
In the next election the PNC will pull a solid 35-40% of the votes and the PPP will pull a solid 35-40%
A Moses/Nigel ticket can surpass the usual 10% that a 3rd party like the AFC usually pulls----but it is highly unlikely they can get 20%.
BOTTOM LINE!
No way the AFC will win the executive branch, but there is a distinct possibility they can help the PNC win the presidency.
If that's what the Guyanese people want--that's what they will get.

My thinking right now is the PPP should not run the country forever---that's not good for a democracy---sometime in the future the PPP will be voted out of office---complacency and corruptness caused the PPP to lose their majority in the last election---they may very well lose the presidency in the next election if the complacency and corruptness continues.
There is a good chance Moses and the AFC can help make Granger the next president of Guyana----and like I said---progress in Guyana will continue.

Welcome back Joker:
But there is some unsubstantiated assumption here:
1. The PNC has maxed out at 40% and they do not have the electoral capability to gain 1 vote more. Actually the PNC will lose votes in 2015 putting them around 35%.
The AFC will gain above 20% with a Moses Nagamootoo Presidency.
Either way we will still have a Presi Ramu but with a smaller number of seats.
That is why it is important that the PPP talk to the majority opposition NOW!

If Moses is the AFC's presidential candidate and if former speaker Ralph Ramkarran, who was very critical of the PPP when he resigned from the PPP executive committee, were to join the AFC how badly would that hurt the PPP's chances of retaining the presidency ?
BOTTOM LINE:
If a Moses led AFC with a Ramkarran support can draw 20% of the votes and let's assume the PNC holds their 40.8% from the last election, then it's lights out for the PPP(100-20%-40.8% = 39.2%).

Rev:
there is 2 big political assumption that cannot stand up.
1. Ralphie Karran was never popular with the grass roots and thus will not make a difference in the political equation whether he is inside or outside the PPP.
AFC will look good on the books with him but he will not bring any constituent to the AFC.
2. The PNC will lose votes. Afro-Guyanese who did not like the PNC voted for them because of this message that the soldier boys spread - "THE AFC WILL STEAL THE INDIAN VOTES FROM THE PPP AND THIS IS THE ONLY CHANCE FOR BLACKMAN TO RUN AGAIN"
This strategy failed and many afro-Guyanese are regretting they voted PNC when their politics is more aligned to the AFC.
I am convinced the PNC will max out in 2015 at 35%. 35% cannot win an election when the PPP will get 40%.
3. The AFC is still not well organised and does not have a machinery that can generate mass support - trade union, country wide youth movement, country wide women's movement, village captains in all the villages.
4. Guyanese voters are very cautious and will not chnage their votes enmass. Many will change their votes but not 75,000 in 5 years.
The AFC need 75,000 more votes to make a difference.
This 2015 election is the PPP's Presidential victory but with less votes.
The AFC will be gaining seats in parliament while the apnu and ppp will be losing seats.
The big question how will granger deal with the stronger AFC. I honestly do not think granger will be there after 2015 since half of the pnc front bench are retirees and they will be gone by 2015.
The 2015 elections will be MOSES victory.

In speaking to Guyanese in Guyana recently, many seemed contented with the status quo---PPP controls the executive branch; PNC/AFC control the legislative branch.

Based on what the politicians are saying there is no chance of a coalition between the AFC and the PPP. What does this mean for the ordinary PPP supporter? It simply means a vote for the AFC automatically translates to a vote for the PNC. Story done!

Billy like you brains bruk or what?
If the AFC is not collating with the PNC, how the hell that mean a vote for the AFC = VOTE for the PNC.
Like u tun Janet Jagan now?
The truth is a vote for the PPP = vote for the PNC and I will explain later.
A VOTE FOR THE PPP = VOTE FOR THE PNC
why?
The PPP has now bought out the senior leaders of the PNC and APNU and they are in back room talks on how to distribute power and the benefits that comes with power.
This process was started when the PNC was in talks with the PPP on the Linden Electricity and in the process shutting the people out.
Luckily the AFC pull the PNC up and the rest is history.
Old people say, nah put cats to watch milk.
Mahen,
My brains maybe bruk but it is working better than most of the brains on this forum. Even a blind man can see the AFC and APNU working together in parliament against the PPP and the wishes of the Guyanese people.

@ BILLY Ram Goat:
Mr Ramjattan Esq stated clearly that the party shall vote with the PPP when they do something good and against the PPP when the PPP does something bad.
The evidence shows that on Dec 17th, the AFC voted with the PPP on one of the supplementary budget measures and voted against the APNU position.
The AFC also voted against the PPP on the budget cuts.
So haul your arse with your false propaganda.
The people who matter the working class know the truth.

My friend, do I need to remind you of the years you spent with Ravi Dev's ROAR working tirelessly to convince PPP supporters that they are not being protected by their party in gov't against the anti-Indian PNC? The brutal attacks on Indians in Guyana goes on unabately and the PNC never condemns any of it. On the contrary, they provide legal support to blacks who carried out acts of murder against Indo-Guyanese. A perfect example of such support is Robert Corbin's public annoucement that the PNC will provide free attorneys to represent those charged with the massacre at Lusignan.
Shame on you Mr. Economist.

Dude...the PPP did not protect East Indians, period! The Jagdeo-Ramotar PPP is the enemy from within. The East Indian population has declined from 52% to 43%. The Hinhu population declined from 37% to 26% under PPP. The PPP has broken all the norms of governance and have opened the East Indians to vulnerability. You cannot talk about brutal attacks and not have a state-sponsored Inquiry. What has the PPP done to address these attacks and insecurities other than forming alliances and tacit collusion with drug pushers? Hence making it harder for the legitimate East Indian capitalists to do legal businesses. The PPP is the bane of East Indians. The Jagdeo-Ramotar PPP cabal is the enemy from within. Jokers like you, Ravi Dev, Bisram and Ramcharra fail to take this dimension into account.
Please tell us "Who" the PPP did not protect Indians from?
Based on what the politicians are saying there is no chance of a coalition between the AFC and the PPP. What does this mean for the ordinary PPP supporter? It simply means a vote for the AFC automatically translates to a vote for the PNC. Story done!
My generation of East Indian don't see big bad blackman bogeymen coming to kill us like yours. So your race baiting don't matter anymore. Now is time for cooperation and working together.

Rev Al and Mr Joker and Davin:
one factory you comrades are not recognizing.
The AFC finance men are abject Indo-Guyanese racist similar to Visnu Bisram message.
I do not think the AFC will join the PNC.
I would ask you to withdraw the comment about the financiers being Indo-Guyanese racists. It is patently untrue and insulting to some good people I know.
Maybe more but it all depends on the political work on the ground.
Moses is the only living politician in Guyana who can steal votes from the PPP at this present moment.
That is a unique feature that cannot be replicated easily.

If Moses has as much faith in himself as you have in him, he'll do wonders in the next election if he is, indeed, the AFC's presidential candidate..
By the way, dont be surprised to see Nigel and Trotty put the royal screw on poor Moses---I'd be very surprised if he is the AFC's presidential candidate---he is longing to be the AFC's presidential candidate---but he'll likely be screwed.

Hello Rev Al:
Firstly let me take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year.
Secondly thanks to AMRAL, for approving my application on Dec 26th 2012 to join this forum.
Thirdly - My name is Sasenarine Singh.
Fourthly - I have no interest in bantering who is right and who is wrong but to focus on the developmental issues and the purely political issues. I am way too busy to do anything else.
The elections are over and the next one will be in 4 years time (all this talk of snap election is just HOT AIR). During that time we should all focus on the people issues and how to help the poor and the working class improve their lot.
To our debate:
In your answer to another blogger you mentions that "don't be surprised to see Nigel and Trotty putting the royal screw on poor Moses..."
Politics will always have intrigues and political maneuverings but to say the above is being very economical with the truth.
If you know a GOOD human being like Nigel Hughes you would know that your thoughts are misplaced.
But let us pretend you are CORRECT? What would be the reaction of the ordinary Guyanese voters to the reality if your wish comes through?
I have my personal views but I hold my peace FOR NOW.
Firstly let me take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year.
Welcome aboard Sase and best wishes in the New year---may you enjoy the best of health.

Wasn't Moses led to believe last year the AFC would nominate him as speaker ? Well, Trotty ended up as speaker! What happened ? Looks like Moses was royally screwed---Trotty and Granger worked out a deal behind Moses' back. Right now Moses' name is being tossed around as the AFC's presidential candidate in the next election---Moses shouldn't get his hopes up too high---he'll likely be screwed again.

What do you mean by ordinary Guyanese voters ?
Listen! Moses has been around for decades and is well loved and respected by many Indo Guyanese, particularly Berbicians.
Now, If Moses were to be the AFC's presidential candidate and if Ramotar's PPP is still perceived to be complacent and corrupt when the next election rolls around, then clearly Moses will add 5 to 10% to the 10.3% Ramjattan received---and that could spell trouble for the PPP holding onto the presidency.
On the other hand, if Nigel and Trotty were to plunge the knife in Moses' back and deny him the opportunity to be the AFC's presidential candidate---then that would doom the AFC---they'll be history.

Rev:
The AFC got its own GT based leadership council so I cannot speak on their behalf.
What I can say is that Team AFC is not in control of Team Granger and visa versa.
EVERY SITUATION HAS CONTEXT.
Team Granger has made some decisions that did not meet the criteria of political transparency in the past.
EXAMPLES:
1. The issue of Speakership was one point where Team Granger did not find favour with MOSES but in the end it worked to Moses favour.
TODAY because of his political work and his political pedigree, he is the front runner as the next Presidential Candidate of the AFC.
If he was Speaker he would not have had the latitude to do such a high quality of political work with the people.
2. VERY IMPORTANT - Team Granger foisted their candidate into GECOM rather than follow traditions of reserving one seat for the minority opposition party. That was a "royal screwing" if I am permitted to use your words.
But you must know politics is about the PRESENT MOMENT and even though those past experiences left a severe crisis of trust in place between the AFC and the APNU, we all as Guyanese have to continue to cautiously trust to progress the National Development Agenda.
Similarly, when the AFC voted in favour of the PPP and not with the APNU in the Dec 17th sitting of Parliament, I did not see that as a front page item in the Chronicle? This is a clear indication that when the PPP is right the AFC will vote with them and when they are wrong - against.
The AFC will act as the conscience of the nation.
That is why we can rubbish all that idle talk of APNU/AFC political alliance.
The reality the PNC is closer to the PPP ideologically than it is to the AFC.
What do you mean by ordinary Guyanese voters ?
Hello Rev:
The poor and the working class. They decide the winners in Guyana elections, not the boys at Georgetown CLUB.

Hello Rev:

Absolutely, not the Snakeoil Salesmen here on GNI and the KFC.
Sase:
The Rev respects your point of view. You strike me as being intelligent and well informed.
Now Sase, it's important for you to understand that given Guyana's historical voting pattern, there is zero chance of a 3rd party like the AFC ever winning a general election--ZERO!
In the last election the AFC, energized by Moses leaving the PPP and joining them, captured 10.3% of the votes---many Berbicians who supported the AFC were shocked by that 10.3%---they were led to believe that they AFC would win it all---they received just 10.3% of the vote.
THE AFC WILL ALWAYS BE PERCEIVED IN GUYANA TO BE THE 3RD PARTY!
And there is a ceiling, in terms of percentage of votes received, by 3rd parties---I believe the maximum percentage of votes a 3rd party in Guyana has ever received was 12%---and so the AFC is pretty close to bumping into that ceiling.
Poster Henry made a valid point in another thread that the AFC's novelty has dissipated. We shall find out how much that novelty has eroded in the next election---if they get less than 10% of the votes---they are history.
You said, "the PNC is closer ideologically to the PPP than it is to the AFC." Well sase, you are correct. And those 2 ideologically similar parties, the PPP and PNC, will likely capture 90% of the vote in the next election.
THE AFC WILL ALWAYS BE THE 3Rd PARTY IN GUYANA---THE 10% PARTY.

Rev
Uncle Rev you right.
The PPP will win the plurality again!
So let's back up a little and assume you are right. Say the PNC wins the election with 35 to 40%, which is best case for them, do you really believe those big bad blackman bogeyman you dream of at nights will take everything and form the next dictatorship?
TK:
The world has changed and Guyana has changed. Dictatorships are a thing of the past.
Listen! If the Guyanese people choose to vote the PPP out of office, I expect the country to continue making progress, and I also expect the PNC will try their best to prove to Guyanese that they are, indeed, capable of running the country efficiently.
Rev
Your tune has improved substantially.
TK, don't fall for this claptrap, bro. Rev (Paul Chandra) is engaging in the same race-baiting he always does. He is just trying to get an AFCite to agree with his "analysis" for propaganda purposes.
Ronald is right, the PNC's votes are maxed out. Moreover, Granger will not be their next candidate (age being a major factor), and the AFC will not only draw from the PPP, as he is implying, but will draw even more from the PNC.
Granger was the PNC's last hurrah, and now that their base feels betrayed, especially because of the events of Linden, many will not vote, and many will switch to the AFC. A similar fate awaits the PPP, though the amount of absentees there will be greater, and the amount crossing over to the AFC smaller.
The PPP will put great effort to suppressing the fact the AFC will draw from both the PPP and PNC. Hence, the Rev's narrative here.

Al,
I totally agree that a vote for the AFC results in a PNC Minority Presidency. So what?
How can that possibly be worse than the current kleptocracy?
You would have to be quite a young fellow to not know the answer to that question.
So its a choice between a Black dominated kleptocracy and an Indian dominated kleptocracy is it?
If those are the only two choices, I would go for the thieves who tief less which is clearly our Black kleptocrats.
I would go with the thief who did not kill the goose while stealing the eggs. In real terms the PNC stole much more than the PPP did. Furthermore, the PNC destroyed by stealing and stole by destroying. If they are "stealing", then they are more thoughtful about the implications.

Just as you have provided no evidence that the PPP sought to collaborate with the AFC, but preach that the AFC does not want to collaborate, you again make a sweeping statement with no evidence.
Or is it because mostly blacks died under the PPP's watch, it makes them less murderous? Or is widespread white collar crime, including the destruction of NIS, less debilitating to our nation than Burnham flying horses to Mathews Ridge?
But if I am missing something though, I'd be grateful for the evidence toward both of your assertions. Thanks, and I wish you all the best in the coming new year.

Al,
I totally agree that a vote for the AFC results in a PNC Minority Presidency. So what?
How can that possibly be worse than the current kleptocracy?
You would have to be quite a young fellow to not know the answer to that question.

Stealing by the PNC can never match what this current PPP government is currently siphoning from the treasury on a daily basis. The country did not fall into bankruptcy because of PNC stealing but because of the socialist/nationalization policies pursued by the PNC which stifled investment and growth. A strategy which was by the way endorsed by the communist PPP via "Critical Support". The current Jagdeo/Rummouthar cabal is exponentially the biggest tiefin government in the history of Guyana and you trying to revise history can never change that.

Yes, as usual you are missing the point GR. Isn't Joker's statement similarly sweeping and fill with conjecture? This point is a matter of perception and who one prefers to support in spite of some levels of corruption.
You are talking gibrich, you see under the PNC the nation's treasury was robbed bare, the economy decimated, civil society collapsed and there was no hope. Even the criminal were having a hard time who to rob as few had anything. This is a far cry from what we have today. Even street criminals are finding life easier.

Yuh trying yuh best to score points on Baseman. But I will explain: you should have understood " The PNC stole and thus destroyed Guyana (They stole every drop). On this Board most of us are doing multiple things at the same time. I would expect some one with a Pea brain to have understood BUT NOT YOU.

The blacks who have been eliminated under the PPP watch were mostly murderers, criminals, gangsters, robbers, looters, etc, etc

Other terrorist elements will be dealt with appropriately if they get out of hand---those 2 above riled up the folks in Linden---resulting in a school being burned and 700 children being displaced.

Destroy the institutions, destroyed the private sector by nationalizing, then sucked then dry. Sometimes stealing destroys, sometimes to steal, you need to destroy the controls, the protections, etc. Without doing that, you cannot realize the stealing.
Over the 28 years, the PNC has actively participated in both.

Have you guys ever listened to yourselves? I have no more evidence that the PNC stole than you have the PPP stealing. Anyway, I believe both did but I prefer the PPP thiefs and Joker prefers the PNC thiefs. That's what this conversation was about. So you are on a different path, as usual.

Be that as it may, please address your assertion that the AFC does not want to collaborate with the PPP. I'd really appreciate that.
Baseman likes to make sweeping statements with no evidence and when he is cornered he goes off at a tangent.
Over the 28 years, the PNC has actively participated in both.
baseman:
Guyana is being showered with praise worldwide by institutions like the Caribbean Development Bank, the IDB, the IMF, the world bank, etc, etc for the remarkable progress being made in the country.
Check out this video titled "THE CARIBBEAN DEVELOPMENT BANK & GUYANA"
Listen Baseman! Many of the PNC and AFC supporters and members are jealous of the progress that has been made in Guyana under the PPP.
And check this out:
PNC & AFC POLITICIANS WANT A PIECE OF THE ACTION.
They know how politics work---the politicians controlling the executive branch get to negotiate numerous under the table deals---and enrich themselves in the process.
AFC & PNC POLITICIANS ARE JEALOUS OF PPP POLITICIANS--THEY WANT A PIECE OF THE ACTION---$$$$$$$----MILLIONS!hahahahaha
Folks like Gerhard Ramsaroo---he is currently struggling with his lil flower shop business---if the AFC were to win the executive branch--Gerard would likely be rewarded with a Ministry---and a Ministry would mean millions in moola(bribes, payoffs, payola, gifts, etc, etc for Gerhard.hahahahahaha

This is understandable, as this is all the PPP and its cronies, like the Rev (Paul Chandra) know. Servant-leadership is unheard of. Therefore, they project their nastiness on others. Flawed thinking, but perfectly logical for the PPP and their ilk.

actually, you have NO evidence that the PNC stole in any way remotely approaching what the PPP mafia is engaged in today [again, please do not embarrass yourself by asking for examples] . . . but you find it a useful rhetorical 'equivalence' to shield your criminal friends @ Freedom House from the scrutiny and exposure that could enlighten the people and lead to the loss of PPP power you so fear.
borrowing drugb's reasoning/methods is no credit to U since he is a self-acknowledged Klown
And speaking of nastiness, there are two Guyanese expressions involving koongsie that aptly describe the PPP:
Deh like fuh tek dem koongs an dab pan adah people batty
Deh like fuh buil latrine when dem ready fun koongs
Servant-leadership is unheard of.
Servant leadership, huh ?
Is that what you folks in the AFC are promising the masses in Guyana---that you'll be a servant of the people if elected ?
POPPYCOCK!
Before a politician is elected he makes the world of promises to the people---promising to be servants of the people once elected.
But once elected no politician fancies himself a servant of the people---he carries himself as a MASTER of the people.
That's the way it is Gerhard----politicians fancy themsleves a servant of the people before they are elected---but once elected---they view themselves as master of the people.
Listen Gerhard! If you and your cronies in the AFC ever win the executive branch---you'll understand what the Rev just wrote.
In the meantime, don't bring that "servant-leadership" bull-crap to the Rev---but you can keep lying to the 10% of voters who support the AFC in Guyana---the servant leadership nonsense may appeal to them.
Rev
Again, Rev, what you are saying only confirms what the PPP has become, and its shameless remorselessness. Fine by me, as Indian supremacists like Vishnu Bisram and our own baseman wish for there to be some remorse, as they know without that the PPP is doomed. It's a fitting irony that the PPP is doomed because of people like you.
Rev can you answer this Question
This is a simple Question......
and I am asking you for the answer...Please.....
the Doo-ru's comments are not important
The daughter of the late leaders then pleaded with the PPP/C leaders and members to get back to the high and moral values.
âIf the leaders donât show the moral values then people wonât do it, and youâre children wonât grow up with no moral values.
And if your families donât show moral values, then society as a whole will lose thatâ.

I know Nehru & Baseman like patsalt and dem like be in everything......
and den cant answer this simple Question.....
but lets hear from De #2 Man himself. REV

Gerhard:
The PPP still controls the executive branch--that is where the milk and honey is my bwoy---the bribes, the payoffs, the under the table deals, the payola, etc, etc---and as long as the PPP controls the executive branch they cannot be doomed.
Right now, Granger, Ramjattan, Hughes, Trotman, etc, etc are drooling to get a taste of the "milk and honey" that is flowing in the executive branch.hahahaha
Listen! The AFC and PNC could win an addition 5 seats in parliament in the next election---NO BIGGIE---as long as the PPP controls the executive branch---the PPP politicians will continue to enrich themselves.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN HONEST POLITICIAN GERHARD!
Right now you might fancy yourself an honest man Gerhard---but if you are every blessed to control a ministry---you'll find it impossible to refuse the "gifts".hahahahahaha
Rev
Rev, I have no issue with YOUR/PPP thinking. Please carry on.
. . . they project their nastiness on others. Flawed thinking, but perfectly logical for the PPP and their ilk.
Indeed Gerhard . . . this is a flimsy garment much clutched-at by scoundrels and criminals after they have been stripped naked
