Guyana: An Emerging Global Retail Hub (therobinreport.com)
Note: This is part one of an ongoing series on emerging retail economies.
Just off the North Coast of South America, tucked in between Venezuela, Brazil, and Surinam, lies Guyana, a former English colony. Although its capital, Georgetown, has a decidedly laid-back Caribbean vibe β it wonβt take a first-time visitor more than a few minutes in the country to realize that this is a nation of contrast and symbiosis. Its people are a melting pot of East Indian, Afro-Guyanese, Amerindian and European, and its music, cuisine, and culture reflect these vectors of global influence. But whatβs also readily apparent to a first-time visitor is growth. Construction sites are everywhere. Shiny, new buildings are going up on almost every corner. Expats from Europe, Brazil, and Latin America, as well as East Asia, fill the local cafΓ©s, restaurants, and lobbies of the new hotels that have been built to serve them. Something is up in Guyana, and itβs something retail executives from around the world should have their eyes on. This small country that few Americans could find on a world map is about to emerge as one of the most important places on the global business landscape.
The worldβs most expensive coffee, made from poop of civet cat, is made in India
India, Asiaβs third-largest producer and exporter of coffee, has started producing the worldβs most expensive coffee, made from the poop of civet cat, on a small scale in Coorg district of Karnataka.
India, Asiaβs third-largest producer and exporter of coffee, has started producing the worldβs most expensive coffee, made from the poop of civet cat, on a small scale in Coorg district of Karnataka.

The Civet coffee, also called as Luwark coffee, is expensive because of uncommon method of producing such a coffee. It is produced from the coffee beans digested by civet cat. The feces of this cat are collected, processed and sold.
It is highly priced because it is claimed to be more nutritious and high cost involved in sourcing the animal dropping, wastage during processing and quality certification.
Civet coffee, a drink of elite consumed widely in the Gulf nations and Europe, is sold for Rs 20,000-25,000/kg abroad.

Here in the countryβs largest coffee-growing Karnataka state, a start-up firm, Coorg Consolidated Commodities (CCC), has made a humble beginning of making the luxury coffee on a small scale and has also decided to open a cafe to serve the brew locally.
βInitially, 20 kg of civet coffee was produced. After establishing the start-up firm, 60 kg was produced in 2015-16 and 200 kg last year. We hope half a tonne production from the new crop to be harvested from October,β Narendra Hebbar, one of the founders of CCC, told PTI.
The exotic coffee is being sold locally under the brand βAinmaneβ, he said that the company has only one outlet at Club Mahindra Madikeri Resort where it sells locally produced coffee, spices and other products.
Hebbar also shared that the company sources the animal poop from plantations located close to forest from where civet cats come to eat the ripest coffee bean cherries.
βCivet cat eats flesh of the coffee cherries and not the bean. Natural enzymes in civetβs stomach enhances the bean flavour and thatβs why this coffee is unique,β he said.
Now, farmers are understanding the importance of this coffee and βwe produce it in natural form unlike other countries where civet cats are caged and forcefully fed with coffee beans,β he noted.

It is being sold at Rs 8,000 per kg here, while it is available at Rs 20,000-25,000 per kg overseas, he said.
Asked if the company plans to export, Hebbar said it is not viable to export in view of high certification cost given the current low production levels.
βWe want to promote this coffee locally. We will open a cafe soon. We will sell βCoorg Luwark Coffeeβ along with other varieties like Cappuccino and Expresso,β he said.
A senior Coffee Board official also confirmed that civet cat coffee is being produced in small quantities in parts of Coorg and Chamarajnagar districts.
βIt is very small quantity, done by individuals. They produce and market as a speciality coffee, a niche product which is very expensive,β he said.
Don't boycott Guyana news and information--contribute in discussions. People seem to be stuck with linear time and schizophrenics function as a varying of time and that is why we are illogical in our reasoning. If you can contribute to my book sales please tell me how. The way we talk as Guyanese is a good thing because that accomplishes a varying of time as opposed to linear time.
Just started watching.
Big Pharma is all about money.
The secret society don't want me to succeed. I am most sorry for the aliens they have defiled. College students controlling to limit the scope of understanding. Things can't be easy for us because they paid for an education and used my conscience to achieve this without giving me any credit.
I try not to read or watch too much TV or movies.
I recently watched WATER FOR ELEPHANTS ( took me 3 days)
I like period pcsβ¦maybe itβs the costumes
of course I watch frivolous shows like 90 day fiancΓ© and all itβs franchises
also watch bachelor and all that follows
i watch Kelly Clarkson, The Social and Ellen
not all episodes and never in one night. I donβt watch lots of screens in the day
Day off today, Cooking some bora with chicken and doing laundry. Whats up yall?
The posters are falling off the grid or drifting away. Perhaps they are bored from the response they are getting. I noticed that posters are away for days. What do you think guys?
I will think with other social media stuff all around, there does not seem to be much interest anymore in the discussion forums.
It was a long ride, well over 20+ years. Quite a few ups and downs.
But I am going to call it as I see it. It is time for us to move on. We made many friends and sadly lost a few friends along the way.
I do not have the time to post much anymore, many other distractions and obligations.
Anyway this is my opinion.
A false life made up of a lot of difficulties we have to accept. They are using truth as a reason to believe the nonsense.
Can someone please tell me what is the answer to 9.8M/Sec^2 / (1/60Sec). Sec is seconds. I believe that gravity is preventing the inverse operation of time (reverse time) on the physical act. This prevents self-realization of what is really happening in our lives as we try to understand ourselves as we explain ourselves to others, preventing physical changes that we wish for due to our will.
Thanks.
Is it 9.8M/Sec^2 / (1/60Sec)= 0.1633 M/Sec^3 ?
Happy Fatherβs Day to all you dads here..
enjoy..be safe!
Anybody using this app?
My eldest daughter intro me to it as she was learning Spanish before her trip to Mexico
So i asked her to download it for me..
n im addictedβ¦
the thing is i did Spanish in high sch from form1-3 (1971-74)
I was top student getting 99% (just because my teacher didnt feel anyone deserved 100% so he had to search for a reson to take away that 1%..eg if i didnt cross a T or dot an I or the full-stop wasnt visibible enough..also handwriting!!
unfortunately I wasnt allowed to continue it to exam level because I opted to do Scienceβ¦it was offered in Arts only.
well I am shocked how much i remember..ie the vocab..
Translation from spanish to English is simple for me..
n the verbs too..ie conjugation
Putting english to Spanish is abit challenging ie to make sentencesβ¦
never-the-lessm I managed to move up to emerald levels,( n in the top 3 too ) in a month.
Now it is more difficult..meaning i have to learn it at this leavel..
PS
hubby is laughing at me..wants to know if im planning to relocate to s Spanish speaking country..lol
iT is good for the βoleβ brain ..
i am having so much fun..
This may be the secret of God-an evil god-that silence is unable to make a decision with time when we act thoughtfully of physically. This may correlate with why Hindus worship idols, the idols being silent showing the disability of silence because idols are silent-reflecting that Krishna has a disability. I have pre-diabetes, possibly indicating that my prognosis of silence correlates with this sickness, disabling a physical correction of the body. I am certain that anxiety correlates to this also. People often make decisions silently not knowing the ramifications of my reasoning. It is also possible that our hearts are a prisoner to this when it beats, since we don't hear it. Our watches are generally silent and no one is telling us that this is a fault. If silence makes a decision with time, the spirits may be able to understand life since the soul will become intelligent-enabling it to "hear" us.
